Plenty to choose from on Saturday's college basketball slate; you'd think we could come up with two winners for our free college basketball picks. Here's what we came up with.

Wisconsin -10 vs. Michigan
In what sounds like it would be a fierce fight in real life the Wolverines battle the Badgers in Ann Arbor.

Michigan pulled a minor upset last time out, winning at Rutgers Tuesday night 54-50 as three-point underdogs. And it did so without leading scorer Caris LeVert (15 PPG), whom was just lost for the season to a broken bone in his foot. The Wolverines shot just 35 percent from the floor, but the Knights only shot 36 percent. Michigan trailed that game by six points without about eight minutes to go, but scratched its way back to the victory.

Wisconsin, a top-five team, has had to deal with some tough spreads, although it exploded for a cover last time out, crushing Iowa Tuesday night 82-50, cashing in at -10. But prior to that, just since Christmas, the Badgers failed to cover at -22 against Buffalo, -19 against Penn State and -16 against Purdue, and only managed a push against Nebraska at -15. However, all four of those games were played at the Kohl Center, where the spread is routinely inflated toward the home team. On the road Wisconsin has covered three of its last four spots, at -19 against Milwaukee, -10 at Cal and -13 at Northwestern.

Yes, double-digits does seem a bit steep for this spread, but the Badgers are the better team. Also, Michigan is an iffy proposition at the moment, having just lost its leading scorer. We like Bucky to pull away in this game, win and cover.

Colorado State -2 vs. San Diego State
The upstart Rams, who have already won more games this season than they did all of last season, host the Aztecs for a big game in the Mountain West.

Colorado State, according to most “experts,” was supposed to finish somewhere in the middle of the pack in the MWC this season. Instead, the Rams are off to a 17-2 start, and 4-2 in conference play. CSU lost a couple of games in a row a couple of weeks ago, but has won its last three, most recently winning at San Jose State last Saturday 70-41, easily covering as an 18-point favorite. Just before that the Rams pounded Nevada 98-42, and just before that they won at Air Force 92-87. However, we get the feeling Colorado State has built a gaudy record against a very mediocre schedule so far, so think about this when looking over the NCAA basketball odds

San Diego State, meanwhile, was the preseason favorite to win the Mountain West, and at the moment sits tied for the lead with Wyoming at 5-1 in conference play. The Aztecs started 10-3 through non-conference play, with wins over Utah, BYU and Pitt, losing only to Arizona by a bucket, on an off-night at Washington and in overtime at Cincinnati. SD State also lost by a bucket at Fresno State about three weeks ago, but since then has won four in a row. Most recently, the Aztecs won at Air Force Tuesday night 77-45, covering as nine-point favorites on the road. San Diego State led by 23 points at the half Tuesday, and for the game shot 58 percent from the floor.

Bottom line here, we just don't think Colorado State has played much of a schedule so far, while San Diego State has a respectable record against quality opponents. Also, the Aztecs swept two games from the Rams last season, by scores of 71-61 and 65-56. We like SD State as our NCAA Basketball Pick, and we don't need the points.
