Even with battling and losing by just 10 points to North Carolina there is a reason why Kansas State is the underdog today versus Georgia. Let's review the NCAA basketball odds and join us inside.

Betting Odds
NCAA basketball odds have come out making Georgia of -2.5 favorite. For one of my selections I will back the Bulldogs to cover this number and win this game going away. Georgia has not played that great so far this season but matchup wise, especially at the guards, they are a better team than Kansas State.

Kansas State Wildcats
Kansas State comes in averaging 76.3 points per game, shooting 42.8% from the field, and 29.4% from beyond the arc. Bruce Weber does not have a really good squad this year as far as talent goes with their leading returner in Justin Edmonds averaging just over six points per game last season. This year he leads the way averaging just over 15 points per game, but they just have only a couple other key guys behind him. Except for North Carolina they have not played a lot of stiff competition and this will be their first true road test.

Defensively the Wildcats are allowing 64 points per game, 39.9% shooting from the field, and 26.9% from beyond the arc. Those are solid numbers but against teams that can actually score a bit like Columbia and of course North Carolina, they allowed 46% and 47% shooting from the field respectively. Tonight, although Georgia has not shot the ball particularly well so far in this early season, they should have some success against a mediocre defense in Kansas State.

Georgia Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are averaging 70 points per game, shooting 42.8% from the field, and 35.9% from beyond the arc. As mentioned, they have not played particularly well so far this season but head coach Mark Fox has some talent and they should be able to pick up where they left off last year ranking sixth in the SEC in scoring offense. They return about 60% of their scoring from last season and have two solid returning guards in Kenny Gaines and Charles Mann. I expect them to play their best game of the season tonight at home.

Defensively Georgia is allowing 68.2 points per game, 37.5% shooting from the field, and 29.1% from beyond the arc. Specifically those are all pretty solid numbers and they rank 25th in the country in opponent shooting percentage from the field. They have also been great at limiting opponent assists averaging just 9.2 per game which ranks 12th in the country.

Georgia has been playing pretty decent defense but has underachieved so far this season. Their losses have not been bad though losing to a good mid major in Chattanooga in overtime, and then on the road against a Seton Hall team who is decently talented, losing by seven. For one of your NCAA basketball picks I recommend taking the Georgia Bulldogs laying the small number to handle business at home. Expect Georgia to win this game by close to double digits.
