The Los Angeles Clippers should have their new players ready for Saturday’s road game with the Boston Celtics – so put the Clips in your NBA picks.

Jason’s 2018-19 NBA picks record through Feb. 7: 12-9 ATS, 0-1 ML (minus-1.15 units), 16-6 Totals

L.A. But we also recommended switching to the ‘under’ if the incoming players from that trade weren’t on the team yet. That’s how it went down, and the final score was 116-92 (Under 220.5) for the Pacers.

Now maybe we can unleash the full power of the Clippers against the spread. They’ve got another road game coming up this Saturday against the Boston Celtics, and word on the street is they’ll have several, if not all of their new players in the lineup – the healthy ones, that is. And it’s not just the haul from the Tobias trade, either.

Temple of the Dog

We’ve already told you about the former 76ers coming into the fold: SG Landry Shamet (minus-1.5 BPM) and PF Mike Muscala (minus-0.6 BPM), who are healthy, and PF Wilson Chandler (minus-0.1 BPM), who’s out with a strained quad. But wait, there’s more:

To Los Angeles: G/F Garrett Temple, PF JaMychal Green
To Memphis: G Avery Bradley

Another brilliant trade by the Clippers. Bradley (minus-3.0 BPM) has been a black hole on offense since he left the Celtics two years ago – just when he was finally turning into a respectable player. Assorted injuries have taken their toll over the years. Temple (minus-1.3 BPM) is a less inefficient version of Bradley on both sides of the ball, and a positive contributor on defense (plus-0.6 DBPM). Green (minus-1.3 BPM) is a bigger version of Temple. So much win for L.A. here.

It’s A Zu Out There

But wait, there’s more:

To L.A. Clippers: PF Michael Beasley, C Ivica Zubac
To L.A. Lakers: PF Mike Muscala

What were the Lakers thinking? Probably that Muscala can shoot some threes for them. Even so, giving up on Zubac (minus-0.7 BPM) after the improvements he’s made this year smacks of desperation. He’ll be an excellent fit on the Clippers. Beasley (minus-3.9 BPM) is likely to get waived, so no harm, no foul.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Pour one out for the homie Zubac 😢😢😢 pic.twitter.com/urQTUi2jb8
— Oluwajomiloju (@JomiAdeniran) February 7, 2019
\n\n"}[/]

The Lakers are also thinking they just lost Anthony Davis to the Celtics. Aside form dumping Jabari Bird on the Atlanta Hawks, Boston didn’t make any moves at the deadline, but they’ll have a good shot at acquiring Davis from New Orleans during the offseason. Meanwhile, the C’s are 10-2 SU and 6-6 ATS since mid-January, including 7-2 SU and 4-5 ATS at the Garden, and Aron Baynes (plus-0.8 BPM) is out with a left foot contusion. Let’s roll with the Clippers when the NBA odds come out – again, Plan B is to take the ‘under’ if the new employees aren’t ready – and may the sphere be with you.
