Zion Williamson Signs Endorsement Deal With Nike's Jordan Brand

“Since I was a kid, I dreamed of making it to the league and having the type of impact on the game Michael Jordan had,” Williamson said.

According to Nike, Williamson joins a roster of more than 50 athletes across numerous sports wearing Jordan gear. Other players include Jayson Tatum, Rui Hachimura, WNBA stars Asia Durr and Kia Nurse and NFL rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Zion’s incredible determination, character and play are inspiring,” Michael Jordan said in a statement. “He’s an essential part of the new talent that will help lead the brand into the future. He told us he would ‘shock the world,’ and asked us to believe him. We do.”

The No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft only played nine minutes in the NBA Summer League before being sidelined with a bruised left knee, as a precaution.

Zion Williamson famously suffered a knee injury in a game against North Carolina in his only year at Duke when his foot ripped through the side of a Nike shoe from Kyrie Irving’s signature line.

Williamson returned to the court after missing six games with a modified Nike shoe and he thanked the company for making a new pair of shoes for him that as he said, were “a little stronger than the regular Kyrie 4s.”
