When the Timberwolves took on the Warriors earlier in the season they played some competitive basketball. These two teams meet up again today and odds makers have made the Wolves a natural underdog but can they make this game interesting?

Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota has lost their last three games in a row and seven out of their last eight games. Tonight things will not get any easier for them as they take on the league's best team in Golden State. Despite their losing ways this season I think this team has every opportunity to hang within the number against the Warriors. While Golden State is coming off a back to back Minnesota is coming off of some much-needed rest and should come in extremely motivated. Defensively Minnesota has really struggled across the board which could doom them tonight but if they can control the tempo a little bit they could make this game interesting.

Currently, Minnesota is allowing opponents just 81.9 field-goal attempts per game which rank fourth in the NBA but their overall defensive percentages rank among the worst in the league. Still, offensively they have been decent shooting 45.3% from the field and 34.5% from beyond the arc both of which ranked them right in the middle the NBA. Although Golden State can be scary to go against I think Minnesota hangs around in this contest.

Golden State Warriors

Golden State is averaging 119.3 points per game which rank them first in the NBA, and they rank first in basically every major offensive category. I fully expect them to win this game because they are rolling right now but I think the scrappy Timberwolves are getting just too many points. What could help Minnesota stay within the number is that Golden State is coming off a back to back and defensively they will allow their share of points as currently, they are allowing opponents 105.7 points per game which rank 19th in the NBA.

Because of their fast pace, they also allow a lot of tempo with opponents getting up 90.7 attempts per contest which rank Golden State second to last in the league. This would be a problem for most teams but Golden State makes up for it because are so efficient offensively. All that being said the key tonight will be Minnesota playing some inspired basketball and I believe head coach Tom Thibodeau will have them ready to give the Warriors all they want coming off a back to back.

Golden State Warriors vs Minnesota Timberwolves

Oddsmakers have made Minnesota +10.5 underdog across the board. For my NBA pick, I'm going to back Minnesota in this spot as I like them to stay within the number because of the situation. It is never easy going against Golden State but this a good spot to do just that.
