Orlando Magic

The Phoenix Suns will be without the services of Eric Bledsoe the rest of the season and oddsmakers have taken note making them just a small favorite against Orlando tonight. Can the Magic come in on the second leg of a back to back?

Orlando Magic

Orlando comes into this game is a slight underdog mostly due to the fact that Bledsoe will be out the remainder of the season. Otherwise, they definitely would have been a bigger underdog in this spot. Because Phoenix’s best player is out though I do think there is some value in backing Orlando tonight to not only take this game to the wire but possibly pull the minor upset despite being on the second leg of a back to back. On the season Orlando has struggled offensively across the board and rank in the bottom five in the league in most offensive categories. However, on the other side of the ball, they have been a little bit better and rank close to the middle league in opponent shooting efficiency and opponent effective field-goal percentage. For me, this is not so much about backing Orlando, although I do like Frank Vogel, but fading Phoenix. Although the Suns have won the last four times these teams have matched up, three of those four games were settled by five points or less.

Phoenix Suns

I think it is a good decision by the Suns to go ahead and let Bledsoe rest the remainder of the season due to his knee issues because Phoenix is well out of the playoff race. With him being out of the lineup I believe there is some decent value on backing a pretty scrappy Orlando team, that although have their share of losses, have played some decent basketball since the All-Star break. This organization just doesn’t seem to have a lot of direction and now with their second-leading scorer and leading assist player out they might be a little deflated in this contest. Matchup wise Phoenix can score at times shooting 45.2% from the floor which ranks them 19th in the NBA, but defensively they’re terrible. Currently the Suns rank 28th, 29th, and dead last in opponent overall shooting percentage, opponent shooting efficiency, and opponent three-point shooting percentage respectively. Although Orlando is far from any kind of offensive juggernaut this game could really go either way so I think there is value in taking the points with the Magic.

NBA Odds

Oddsmakers have Orlando is a +3 underdog but for my NBA pick, I will take them plus the points. You might want to look at taking them on the plus money line as well because Phoenix might not come in with a ton of focus tonight having lost their team leader.
