The start of the season has been the twilight zone ATS for the Nuggets and Nets. After being one of the worst teams in the NBA ATS last season, the Nets are 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS to start the season. On the other side, Denver is just 1-4 ATS and tonight they are -4 ½ road favorites in Brooklyn.

Nuggets (-4.5) vs. Nets

The loss of Jeremy Lin again really hurts the momentum of this Nets team, but it also allows some of their younger and talented guards to get some run with D’Angelo Russell. These Nets guards are going to need to push the pace against a Nuggets team that is suddenly is playing slower than almost every team in the league.

However, the Nuggets are still capable of playing up in pace against the right opponents, and on the road against Brooklyn is one of those teams. The Nets are playing at the second-fastest pace of any team at nearly 105 possessions per game, I expect them to put pressure on the Nuggets’ defense.

With the Nuggets cashing the under in all five of their first games of the season, the oddsmakers have opened this total at 222 points, which on the face of things looks like a lock for the under. However, the first two of their games were against slower paced teams, and with a dud on the road in Charlotte in there too, the Nuggets have yet to face a true fast-paced team.

With the Nets’ defense allowing 112 points per 100 possessions, I see both the Nuggets having a big Sunday offensively, but the Nets should be able to get upwards of 110 points as well, so that's one of our Sunday NBA picks.
