If you’re a basketball fan who follows the NBA odds and likes to watch to see how your sports picks perform, not having the Cavaliers and Hawks on ESPN tonight has to be disappointing.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Atlanta Hawks 7:35 ET  FS-OH, SPSO
Though both these Eastern Conference squads are more known for defense, those placing  NBA picks are attacking the sportsbooks total of 200 and have jettisoned it to 202.5. Though the makeup of Cleveland’s roster is vastly different from the past few seasons, these two clubs are 8-2 OVER. What is being ignored is the Cavs are 5-2 UNDER in last seven and the Hawks are 6-1 UNDER in the same timeframe.

NBA Pick – Slight lean Under at Pinnacle Sports

L.A. Lakers vs. Memphis Grizzlies  8:05 ET  TWC-SN, SPSO
The Grizzlies had a satisfying 102-100 victory at Houston on Wednesday, yet they are 4-3 and 3-4 ATS in the past seven and when the NBA odds came out with Memphis at -13, most have figured they cannot do the heavy-lifting and lowered to -11.5. Hard to fathom why the Lakers have suddenly become more competitive, but they have and are on a nice 5-1 ATS spin. The Grizz is only 15-14-1 at the home of the blues and might not beat the oddsmakers.

NBA Pick – Lean L.A. Lakers at 5Dimes

Texas Tech vs. Baylor  9:00 ET  ESPN2
Texas Tech is a horrific 0-11 and 3-8 ATS on the road this season, averaging a miserable 50.2 points a game on just 33 percent shooting. Nevertheless, hoops bettors are either counting on the Red Raiders to make more shots or Baylor to abuse the defense, taking the total from 121 to 124 on the NCAA Basketball odds. What is being counted on is the Bears play their typical game at home and average 72.8 PPG and if Texas Tech makes a basket or two more, this could go past the number. The earlier contest was an easy Under with Baylor victorious 54-49 and we’ll side with the idea somebody knows something and support the move.

Minnesota Wild vs. Carolina Hurricanes 7:05 ET  FS-NO, SPSO
Minnesota has been lighting the lamp with regularity and defending their net in winning four in a row and 15 of 18, to move all the way up to fifth in the Western Conference standings. This has led to the Wild getting the call of the wild from hockey bettors and have been elevated from -115 to -130 on the money line at Carolina on the NHL betting odds. The Hurricanes will not make the postseason but they have won four of six and could definitely make this a battle. When the visitor moves in this range on the money line, they are 30-15 in recent games.

NHL Pick – Lean Minnesota at The Greek

NCAA Basketball & NBA Big Weekend Matchups

Butler vs. Providence 12:00 ET   FSN
Second place is on the line in the Big East with Butler at Providence. Georgetown is also in the mix with an 11-6 record and all three teams are looking to avoid playing top seeded Villanova until the conference finals. Butler was in position to wrap up second but lost to the Hoyas at home earlier this week and has lost to Providence 66-62 as six-point home favorites. The Bulldogs are 6-4 SU and ATS in away games, while Providence is 13-3 and 7-5-1 ATS at home. We see the Friars as 2-3 point home favorites and finishing the job. Lean – Providence

Duke vs. North Carolina 9:00 ET  ESPN
The first matchup was a masterpiece and to expect anything different is foolhardy. Virginia’s already wrapped up the ACC regular season title again, but who cares. North Carolina will be thinking payback; for 92-90 OT loss, but the fact is they could have won the game with stronger defense and better offensive execution late. The Tar Heels will look to dominate inside again with their bigs; however, the North Carolina guards have to do a better job against the Blue Devils backcourt in dribble penetration. The visitor is typically who covers and Duke should be a 1 or 2 point favorite. Lean – Duke

Missouri Valley Championship 2:05 EST (Sunday)
At this time, we don’t know who will be in the Arch Madness finals, but all college basketball handicappers are hoping for one more Wichita State vs. Northern Iowa rematch to settle the score this season. Both are highly ranked and figure to be facing off and each prior conflict was a blowout. On a neutral court, this does not figure to be the case. This game would come down to Northern Iowa containing the Shockers backcourt of Fred Van Vleet and Ron Baker and the Panthers frontcourt led by Seth Tuttle being stronger. Wichita State will be a 2-4 point favorite if they meet.

Tulsa vs. SMU  3:00 ET  ESPNU  (Sunday)
The outright AAC crown is up for grabs Sunday afternoon when these two teams collide. Both Tulsa and SMU are 14-3 and the Mustangs won the previous meeting 29 days ago in Oklahoma 68-57 as one-point road favorites. The quicker more athletic Ponies should be favored by 8 or 9 digits at home, where they are 15-2 and 8-4-2 ATS. Tulsa will attempt to pull the upset and will need a big game from their guards since this is not a strength of SMU’s. The Golden Hurricane is 8-3 and 5-6 ATS when on the road. Lean – SMU

L.A. Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors 3:30 ET ABC (Sunday)
Golden State returned home Wednesday and got back on the winning track against Milwaukee. This contest will wrap up a three-game homestand (the results of Friday’s contest with Dallas are to be determined) and the Warriors are no longer the money-making juggernaut they once were at 2-7-1 ATS, though eight of those games were on the road. The Clippers will have been off since Wednesday, when they gave away game to Portland at home, failing to hold a late 10-point lead and falling in OT. Los Angeles is 12-18 ATS on the road, but is 3-0 and 2-1 with three or more days rest. Figure Golden State to be favored by 5 or 6. Lean – Golden State
