The Rockets have not looked good over their last two games, losing to the Sixers and Grizzlies, but are -5.5 Wednesday at the Knicks. Can we expect a bounce-back performance from Houston?

Houston Rockets at New York Knicks

If you would have asked me which one of these teams would be on a three-game winning streak by the time we got to this game on Nov. 1, I would not have guessed the Knicks. New York has been on a roll lately, and a big reason for its success has been the play of Kristaps Porzingis.

Porzingis has been almost a lock for a 30-point double-double over the last few games, and Wednesday is likely not going to be the day he slows down. Despite Houston adding a guy like P.J. Tucker, who will see some time on Porzingis in this game, he is not good enough to slow down the Knicks’ talented big man.

There is also the Knicks’ advantage down low. Enes Kanter and Kyle O’Quinn have been a wrecking crew sharing the center duties for the Knicks over the last two games, and against a smaller Rockets front line New York has some appeal ATS in this one.

However, as soon as the Knicks get a head of steam, bettors seem to fall in love with them, and they end up getting beat. With the Rockets coming in desperate for a win, especially for Mike D’Antoni to beat his old team, I see the total being a better play than the spread.

At 212 points, this total is a bit too low, despite both of these teams playing at pretty slow paces to start the year. The Rockets are definitely going to increase their pace as the season goes on, and after a couple of losses is a great time to do that. I see D’Antoni pouring it on the Knicks offensively, and with no one to slow down the Knicks’ big men this game could be a lot higher scoring than the sportsbooks are suggesting right now.
