Welcome back to another season of NBA hoops! After a crazy opening night on Tuesday where we saw Gordon Hayward snap his leg, and the Rockets upset the Warriors, Wednesday has 11 games and should be just as exciting. We cashed our first NBA Pick of the season on Tuesday and I am feeling great about the two plays I have locked in tonight.

Nets vs. Pacers

The Nets and Pacers might both be better than what people are expecting this season. The bottom half of the Eastern Conference playoffs are ripe for the picking, and with the Nets not owning their draft pick, and the Pacers attempting to rebuild on the fly, it’s not inconceivable that both of these teams make the playoffs.

They both have several things in common this year. Neither team is going to play much defense, especially early on when overs tend to cash more anyway.

The best thing going for this game will be the pace from both teams. Indiana is and probably should ramp up their pace this season because getting out and running is the only way they are going to stay competitive.

On top of that, with Jeremy Lin and D’Angelo Russell as the starting guards in Brooklyn, they too will look to run a lot on missed shots. This creates a lot of extra possessions, and while the NBA Odds for this game has the total at 217 at Pinnacle, it’s still not enough for their opening night game.

Wolves vs. Spurs

Kawhi Leonard has already been ruled out for tonight and that has led to a flurry of NBA Odds action on the Wolves taking points in this one. Right now most sportsbooks have the number sitting at -1 ½ in favor of the Spurs, but without their two-way MVP candidate tonight, the Wolves are going to dominate.

The core of Jimmy Butler, Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, and Jeff Teague are going to be unstoppable for the Spurs tonight. Without Leonard, Butler and Wiggins will do as they please offensively. Towns is going to wear out Pau Gasol down low, and this one could end up a nice straight up win for the Wolves.

Take a look at their preseason highlights in their game against the Warriors in China. If they can do some of those things against Golden State, they can beat up a Leonard-less Spurs team.

The Wolves’ defense is going to be one of the leagues best and their half-court offense should be solid. On top of that, the team went out and got veterans like Taj Gibson and Jamal Crawford to round out their depth, which against a banged-up Spurs team will play tonight.
