After two thrilling games in the Western Conference Finals I am backing the Houston Rockets to win at home on the plus money line on the NBA Odds. Look for the Rockets to protect their home floor.
The Golden State Warriors have come out as a -1.5 favorite on the NBA odds. It makes pretty good sense, they did win the first two games of this series and they were one of the best road teams in the NBA this season. Don’t get fooled by the line though, the Rockets have played well, and they play well at home. Sometimes perception doesn’t match reality, and this is such the case in this spot. In game 7 against the Clippers the Rockets were the underdogs as well and we know how that turned out.
The Golden State Warriors shot over 53% from the field in game two and won by one point. That is really interesting when the Rockets “only” shot 46% from the field. I think the Rockets were on to something in that second game getting the Warriors out of their rhythm and only allowing them to get up 77 shots after allowing 92 shots in game one. To limit a good team like the Warriors that averaged on the season over 86 shots per game down in the numbers says a lot about Houston’s attention to detail. On their end the Rockets stayed a bit above their average on the year going for 86 shots in game one and 84 shots in game two.
Defensively Houston is very tough at home. Most of their defensive stats improve in Houston including opponent field goal percentage from 44.6% to 43.5%, scoring defense from 102 to 99 points, and opponent three point shooting percentage from 32% to 29% in which they led the league.
