NBA Picks: Warriors vs. Nuggets
If this game goes anything like the football game we saw in Denver yesterday, I expect a nice fight between these two Western Conference playoff teams.
NBA betting Odds for this one favor the Nuggets by -6, with a total of 209 points. Will the Warriors continue their great run through the first half of the season, or will the Nuggets continue to be great at home?
Warriors fighting valiantly
Before the season started, I predicted the Warriors would sneak into the playoffs in the 8th seed. Right now it looks as if they may be a bit higher than that. Golden State has fought their way to a 23-12 SU record to start the season, and they currently sit only 4 ½ games back of first place in the West, and only a game back of the Grizzlies for the 4th seed.
Golden State has improved vastly on the defensive end of the floor from years past, as it seems that Mark Jackson has finally gotten his group to buckle down on both ends of the floor. The Warriors are giving up under 99 points per game, which is where they need to be to be successful. You might say, "Giving up 99 points isn’t very good.” You’d be right, as it is still in the bottom third of the NBA.
However, the Warriors play an up-tempo style of ball, scoring 101 points per game. They also average more offensive possessions that almost any team in the NBA, leading to more possessions for the opposing team as well.
Nuggets starting to play
With a four game winning streak on the line this evening, the Nuggets will want to give it all they have to beat the Warriors, and to move up in the West standings. Every game in the West is going to be crucial this season, as it looks like we aren’t getting much separation so far.
From the 1st seed to the 8th, there are only eight game separating the eight teams in the standings, and there are a few more teams on the outside looking in that could very well find themselves in by season’s end.
The Nuggets have also been improving their defense this season, something that had to be done. In their four game winning streak, the Nuggets are giving up an average of 98 points per game, while scoring 107 points per game in that stretch.

The Sharp Pick
While I have spent this entire piece talking about defense, I think the over is going to be the play in this one. When these two teams get together, they play the same style of basketball. There are going to be plenty of quick shots in this game, and while I think the Warriors have a solid defense, the altitude of Denver will affect the, some tonight.
This will be the fourth time these two have played one another this season, and two of the three games that have gone on already have gone into the 200 point range and over the total. Even though it’s slightly inflated tonight to 209, I still feel like both these teams will be able to score the ball on one another.
My Pick: OVER 208 ½ at 5DimesHow will the T-wolves do against the San Antonio Spurs tonight?
