Golden St. Warriors (-9) vs. Sacramento Kings 10:05 ET
For this NBA pick we must first take into consideration that the Golden St. Warriors continue to lead the Western Conference at 37-8 SU, good for the highest winning percentage in the NBA. They will visit rival Sacramento, who has nosedived to 17-29 SU, 9 games out of the 8th spot in the West.  With a 1-8 SU mark, it appears that Sacramento has already tossed the towel.  These teams have already met 3 times this season with Golden St. winning 95-77, 128-108 and 126-101.  That makes it 7 straight wins for Golden St. in the series and 5 consecutive covers.  They have won those most recent 5 games against Sacramento by an average of 23 PPG.  The high-scoring wins and margins are not a surprise, considering that Golden St. averages 111 PPG, easily the most in the league, while Sacramento is allowing 104 PPG with only 3 teams allowing more.

With the high-scoring duo of Demarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay leading the way, Sacramento began the year 5-1 SU ATS.  That showed obvious promise for a Kings’ team who had gone 28-54 SU each of the previous two seasons, finishing well out of the final playoff spot.  Since that time, the positive momentum has quickly eroded.  The Kings have gone just 12-28 SU.  On Saturday, Sacramento defeated Indiana (99-94). That was a rare victory for a team who had lost 8 consecutive games prior to that win.  Even with that victory, the Kings enter tonight’s game on a slide of 8-24 SU, 7-25 ATS.  Their Sleep Train Arena home court has rarely been an ally in recent years.  Such is the case this season, where Sacramento is 10-15 SU, 8-17 ATS.   It is unlikely that the Kings turn things around against a rival who has recently dominated them.

Golden St. was rolling at 13-1 SU prior to the prophetic statement by star shooting guard, Steph Curry, that “our biggest opponent now is complacency.”  That statement came after Golden was on a 13-1 SU run.  Thus, it was no surprise when Golden dropped consecutive decisions to Chicago and Utah.  But, the Warriors rebounded Saturday night for a 106-87 home victory vs. Phoenix.  That win was particularly noteworthy since Golden St. won the 2nd half (54-36).  Consider it a buy sign that the Warriors will play with great intensity as they finish the first half of the season playing 6 games in 9 nights, prior to the All-Star break.  Only a look ahead to their game vs. Dallas tomorrow night could prevent another rout of an opponent they have dominated.  But, after their recent dip, it is not likely to happen.  Consider that Golden St. is 27-11 ATS as a NBA odds favorite this year, including 9-3 ATS as single digit road favorite, a role in which all NBA teams are 124-91 ATS.  In addition, Golden St. has clearly been a momentum team with a pointspread record of 26-9 ATS following a victory.
