The marquee matchup of the evening is the Warriors heading into Boston to play the red-hot Celtics. There is some concern of Stephen Curry’s status, but regardless of whether he plays, the NBA Odds hold some nice value if you know where to look.

Even though the Celtics have been great on defense to start the season, it’s easy to forget that they play in the Eastern Conference. Sure, they have played some really good offensive teams so far like the Cavaliers and Raptors, but they have also done this with a somewhat favorable schedule.

Even though they have played more road games than home games, the C’s have only played four Western Conference teams, and three of those four were at home. Even though they get the Warriors at home as well, they have not had to defend a group like this before.

Needless to say, the C’s defensive rating is going up after this game. I won’t be surprised if the Celtics win this game at home, but I will be surprised if they shut down this Warriors offense. That’s simply not going to happen.

Therefore, it’s my estimation that the only way to win this will be for the C’s to be opportunistic on defense but to play up in pace along with the Warriors. Without Gordon Hayward, this Boston team does not have enough half-court offense to score against Golden State. Last season the Warriors were one of the better defensive teams in the NBA, and even though they have struggled some to start 2017-18, they are rapidly improving on that end, and currently rank just outside of the top 10 in defensive efficiency.

The Warriors are averaging an insane 123.7 points per game on the road this year, and I’ll be damned if they don’t get at least 115 tonight. This Celtics team is good, but they are going to be playing from behind in this one, and I think they’ll be forced to play a Golden State type of game. That means the over is the play, and I think it is regardless of if Stephen Curry sits or plays.
