The Warriors are taking no prisoners this season, and tonight they'll try to keep the good times rolling at home to Chicago with NBA odds favoring them by 10 points.
Whenever the Warriors are involved and are playing at home, they're typically favored by a large number in NBA odds. That holds true for tonight's action, as Golden State is laying 10 points at a lot of major sportsbooks. Some sites even have a spread of 9.5 out there for the taking, for those that are sniffing for value and like the Warriors to win big.
What kind of tempo should we expect tonight? A pretty fast one. The O/U is all the way up at 210.5 right now and doesn't seem to be budging much.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors just won't stop winning. They're not able to. Another outstanding run has seen Golden State improve to a 36-6 overall record, as Steve Kerr's men have won five in a row and 13 of their last 14. During the streak, the Warriors have beaten both Oklahoma City and Houston twice and also managed to get the better of Toronto.
This past Sunday, Golden State had to hang on for a 114-111 win over the Celtics at home. It wasn't the most dominant of showings, especially defensively, but their potency offensively still helped them salvage the win. Klay Thompson got hot again and finished with 31 points on 11-of-19 shooting (with three threes), while Stephen Curry had 22 points, 11 assists and four rebounds. Andrew Bogut had one of his better games of the year, posting 13 points, 13 rebounds and four boards in 28 minutes, and Draymond Green also hit double figures.
There's no other way to say it: the Warriors are looking scary good this season. They're averaging a ridiculous 111.1 points per game, easily the best mark in the league, and they're getting contributions from all over the place. Golden State's depth is going to take them a long way.
Looking over Chicago's recent results wouldn't blow you away or anything. The Bulls have gone a poor 4-7 over their last 11 games overall, and that means we find them at 29-17 overall on the year. As you can see, despite this bad play of late, Chicago's still in a great spot in terms of Eastern Conference seeding.
The Bulls have been off since Sunday's home loss to Dwyane Wade and the Heat. Though Wade (26 points) played very well in another return to his hometown, the star of the show was Hassan Whiteside, who posted a triple-double with blocks in Miami's road win. He had 14 points, 13 rebounds and 12 blocks off the bench, as Chicago was held to 35.6 percent shooting.
Aside from Mike Dunleavy, everyone is pretty much healthy for the Bulls, so we should start to see more consistent performances out of this group in the near future. Who knows? Maybe it could come tonight, as Chicago is one of the few teams out there that has the talent to match up with Golden State. That in and of itself is hard to find.
As crazy as it may sound to place our NBA pick against the Warriors, we believe this is too high of a spread.
The Bulls are a very talented bunch and we think they'll relish the opportunity to show what they've got tonight. Injuries have gotten in the way, but Chicago has still more than hold their own. They've been one of the better rebounding teams in the NBA and have been pretty efficient offensively -- the return of Rose to full strength has certainly helped.
It's going to be mighty tough to get a straight up win, but we do like the Bulls' chances of making a game of it and staying within the high number.
