This skilled sports handicapper focuses his attention on the NBA odds available for Tuesday’s Western Conference showdown between Golden State and Portland, betting ATS.
Warriors Invade Portland
The Portland Trailblazers will host the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday at 10:35 PM ET. According to the NBA odds, the Warriors are a 6.5 point favorite, and none of the major sportsbooks have posted a total at the time of this writing. These teams have met just once this season, and Golden State was a 95-90 winner at Portland way back on November 1st.
The Beat Goes On for the Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are coming off a 107-76 home win over the Washington Wizards last night. Needless to say, they easily covered as an 11.0 point favorite, the game went considerably under the total of 207.5, and it was the first time Golden State played on the low side of the number in seven games. The win was the sixth in a row for Warriors, and they covered in five of those six games. They’ve also gone a terrific 11-1 in their last twelve games. Golden State has allowed 96-points or less in the last four, and 98-points or less in nine of their previous eleven games. Considering they’ve scored 102-points or more in thirteen of their last fourteen games, it’s pretty clear why the Warriors are once again sizzling hot.
Rough Road Trip for the Blazers
The Portland Trailblazers return home for the first time since concluding a brutal five game in seven day road trip. They lost four of five during that trip, and that includes a dismal 0-4 SU&ATS in their last four games. On a more positive note, Portland has won their last five at home, and covered in four of those five. Unfortunately, the Blazers are likely to be without star forward LaMarcus Aldridge (23.5 PPG, 10.4 RPG) for tonight’s game, he’s listed as doubtful due to a hand injury. Portland has gone over the total in five of the last six, and nine of their previous thirteen games overall.
Both teams will be without key players tonight. As I alluded to earlier, LaMarcus Aldridge (21.7 PPG) is listed as doubtful for the Blazers, and Klay Thompson is out for an indefinite period of time for the Warriors due to an ankle injury.
Another important factor to keep in mind when placing NBA picks is that Golden State will be playing in their third game in the last four days. The Portland Trailblazers enter tonight with two days of rest. Portland has also gone a terrific 28-6 at home this season, and despite being without their top player tonight, this is a very good betting value on the home underdog. I’m going to be siding with the more rested home team in this contest for one of my NBA picks on Tuesday.
