After a shocking loss at the hands of the Miami Heat, the Golden State Warriors stay on the road and travel to take on Charlotte tonight. Oddsmakers have come out making the Warriors a solid road favorite but is there any way the Hornets can make a game of this?

Golden State Warriors

Despite their loss in Miami Golden State remains the best team in the NBA and have the statistics to prove it. Currently, they rank first in the NBA in almost every important offensive statistic from points per game to overall shooting percentage to shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage. They are deadly from the interior extended and are a challenge for any team to defend.

My favorite statistic in regards to them is the fact that they rank first in the NBA in assists at 31.2 per contest which is amazing. On the other side of the ball, they are not quite as impressive but still extremely durable allowing opponents to shoot just 43.3% overall which ranks first in the NBA. They also rank second in opponent shooting efficiency and upon effective field-goal percentage. This looks like a great spot for them to come in and bounce back against a pretty good Charlotte team that is well coached. I have no problem backing Golden State believing they can win this game by double digits.

Charlotte Hornets

Although I’m a big fan of head coach Steve Clifford I simply don’t think they have enough to hang with Golden State in this spot. Currently, Charlotte is not doing enough on the offensive end despite a recent three-game winning streak (snapped last game) as they rank 25th and 26th in the NBA shooting 44.1% overall and 48% on their two-point shots. They also rank 23rd in both effective field-goal percentage and field goals made per game.

On the other side of the ball they are a little bit better but what really sticks out is the fact that they allow opponents 30.8 three-pointer attempts per game along with opponents making 10.9 of those which ranks them dead last in the NBA. That is not a good statistic when you’re taking on a Golden State team that can light it up from beyond the arc. Although Charlotte will be fired up and give a good effort, I just feel that in the end, the Warriors should win this game handily.

Golden State Warriors vs Charlotte Hornets

Oddsmakers have come out making Golden State a -9 favorite across the board and for my NBA pick I will back them in the spot. Golden State brings in a lot of firepower along with a really good defense so look for them to win this game by double digits.
