A playoff berth is up for grabs as Denver visits Minnesota on the final night of the NBA's regular season. Let's find value in the underdog in that game and in another that has little significance.

This is it for these two clubs: Win and you’re in; lose and the season is over. Minnesota is a -3 home favorite in this spot on the NBA odds board, and with my NBA picks I will take Denver plus the points and look for this to go to the final shot. The Nuggets beat the Timberwolves 100-96 last week, but Minnesota took the two previous matchups, both of which were tight. I expect another close one as these teams match up extremely well. On the season both teams have been great on the offensive side of the ball with Minnesota shooting 47.6 percent and Denver 47 percent, ranking them fifth and 10th in the NBA, respectively. Both teams rank in the top 10 in most offensive categories, but on the other side of the ball they have been atrocious. They are the two worst teams defensively with Minnesota ranking 29th in allowing opponents to shoot 47.5 percent, and Denver 30th at 47.6 percent. Tonight, look for both teams to play their guts out and for this game to go to the final shot.

Although I am sure Boston is glad to be in the playoffs, they cannot be coming in too enthused considering their injury situation. They have swept Brooklyn in three matchups this season, and they are small home favorites on the NBA odds board. With my NBA picks I will gladly take the points with Brooklyn, because on closer examination those first three contests really could’ve gone either way. The Nets lost the three games by a combined 12 points, and I look for them to give a maximum effort to finish their year. Despite a losing record, the Nets have had a decent season statistically. On defense they rank 12th in opponent shooting efficiency and ninth with opponents hitting just 50.3 percent of their two-point shots. Of course, Boston is one of the elite defensive teams in the NBA, but they have struggled at times to score. The Celtics are shooting just 45.1 percent overall, which ranks in the bottom third of the league. Don’t look for Boston to put a lot of focus on this game. Brooklyn might even pull the small upset.
