Two Road Teams on Upset Alert For Friday's NBA Action

Dario Saric of the 76ers

Two games with home underdogs stand out on Friday because of their potential betting value. Read on to get the insider's NBA picks on all the action.

Mavericks vs. 76ers

The Mavericks upset the Wizards 112-107 in Washington behind 20 points from Dirk Nowitzki (10 in the fourth quarter) but they're just 9-23 on the road and 2-5 ATS against Atlantic Division opponents.

The 76ers played well in their close 106-104 road loss against the Warriors last Tuesday. Philadelphia even had a 90-78 lead at the start of the fourth quarter and Dario Saric scored 25 points. Saric is now averaging 20.2 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists over his last 10 games and he can help his team stay in this game.

Philadelphia has a 15-19 home record, which is not impressive but let's not forget that this is a team that went 10-72 (7-34 at home) last year and keep in mind that they're playing without their leading scorer Joel Embiid and still were able to finish with at least 100 points in each of their last four games. I like the 76ers at +4.5 NBA odds.

Rockets vs. Pelicans

The Rockets have won five of their last seven games, scoring 100 or more points on each one but they're 18-20 ATS after covering the spread in their previous contest and Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins could cause matchup problems because Houston's weakness is their frontcourt.

The Pelicans are coming off a tough 120-112 road loss against the Heat but they were on a two-game winning streak before that setback, with convincing victories against the Hornets and the Trail Blazers and Anthony Davis has been unstoppable, averaging 28.5 points and 11.2 rebounds over his last 10 games. The X-factor in this game is Jordan Crawford, who is averaging 14.2 points off the bench on 50.9 percent shooting in five games with the team.

Davis and Cousins are starting to develop some chemistry and with Jrue Holiday and Jordan Crawford playing at a high level and their offense looking more fluid, I'm adding the Pelicans +5 to my NBA picks.
