The NBA is in full swing this week and we have already had some shocking instances. For Friday’s full slate we are going to take a look at a couple totals tht are looking very enticing.

Boston at Philadelphia

Of course the big news out of Boston is the injury to Gordon Hayward which definitely put a monkey wrench in their championship aspirations. Coming into this contest 0-2 is probably not something they expected either and so far they have struggled to score at a decent rate. Philadelphia gave Washington all they wanted on opening night and took the game to the final quarter. What I like about this matchup is the tempo that these two teams pushed in their games to start the season with Boston getting up 88 and 91 attempts in their losses, while Philadelphia got up 94 versus Washington. I really believe this will be a fast-paced affair and I look for Boston to shake off the early cobwebs and put up a lot of points. The lines for tonight's game have come out with a high 217 total for this contest but I like for both of these teams to score and get up and down at a fast pace so for my NBA pick I will back the over.

Orlando at Brooklyn

Orlando pulled off a nice upset opening-night beating the Miami Heat after looking really sluggish in the preseason. I like the young core that Frank Vogel has but what really shocked me in that game was the frenetic pace with the Magic getting up 90 attempts while allowing over 100 by the visiting Heat. On top of that was Orlando being decently efficient from beyond the arc knocking down eight of 21 attempts from distance. Brooklyn looked a lot like it did last year but with a little more talent in their loss at Indiana, once again showing they will play little defense this season. Similar to Orlando, the Nets allowed Indiana to get up over 100 shots while getting up just over 90 themselves. Impressive to me was the fact that they shot so well shooting 47% overall and 40% from distance. This game is going to be a track meet and the NBA odds reflect that with the total right now at 222. For my NBA pick I will back the over.
