Miami is dealing with some injury issues for tonight's game in Portland, so it could get ugly. The visitors are big underdogs, but maybe the number should be even bigger.

Dwyane Wade and Hassan Whiteside traveled with the Heat but will not play tonight. Wade's absence is easily absorbed with all the wing talent for the Heat, but the loss of Whiteside is going to hurt on both ends of the court.

For starters, Miami is now going to have to battle Portland's Jusuf Nurkic with rookie Bam Adebayo and Kelly Olynyk. Adebayo has been very good this season, but he and Olynyk are not the strongest defenders. With the way Nurkic has been playing, he's going to be hard to stop.

Speaking of playing well, Damian Lillard has been a machine for the Blazers the past couple of weeks. Even though Goran Dragic is a good defender, he stands little chance of slowing down Lillard.

Portland took care of the Heat down in South Beach earlier in the season, 102-95, and tonight they are -7 favorites on the NBA odds board. Personally, I’d put the Heat as +10 underdogs in this one.

Miami has been impressive away from home, though. The Heat are 22-11 ATS on the road, and 9-2 ATS when playing on the road against the West.

However, with Whiteside out, the Heat might not have enough to beat down the Blazers. Portland is 5-0 ATS over their last five games, and with my NBA picks tonight I see them making it 6-0.
