Tonight's NBA card offers some interesting matchups that could have some good betting value. Check out these over-under trends in Wednesday night action featuring the Hornets at Magic, Timberwolves at Nuggets and Nets at Bulls.

Hornets vs Magic

Analysis: The Magic have dropped six of their last seven matchups against the Hornets, but have done a good job defensively versus their Southeast foes at Amway Center. Charlotte has put up 98 points or less in three of the four meetings in Orlando during this stretch. Trends point to another contest in which the Hornets struggle to reach the century mark again Wednesday night.

Charlotte averages 104.7 points per game, a tic above the NBA norm. The number is a bit inflated with the Hornets really taking advantage of poor shooting defenses. In 10 games against units allowing 45.5 percent or better from the field, Kemba Walker and company light up the scoreboard for 111.0 points per game. Versus those allowing fewer, Charlotte puts up 100.5 per game in regulation time. The average slips to 99 in eight road contests. The Magic enter with a 45.1 opponent shooting percentage.

The over-under has yet to be released as of publication, but lean the UNDER in this matchup. The Hornets have stayed south of the total in 11 of 12 games when held below 104 points this season.

Timberwolves vs Nuggets (-4)

Analysis: The betting market can't catch up to the Nuggets. The OVER is 21-10 in their games, and trends point to another high-scoring affair Wednesday night when hosting the Timberwolves.

When Denver slips up offensively, it's against the NBA's elite shooting defenses. The UNDER is 6-3 when it squares off against units allowing 44.2 percent or less from the field, scoring just 99.0 points per game. The Nuggets are 17-4 to the OVER versus all others, putting up 111.1 per night.

Minnesota enters with a horrendous shooting defense, allowing 46.8 percent, 27th in the NBA. Its the second highest rate Denver has tipped off against all season.

Nets vs Bulls (-10)

Analysis: The Nets love to fire up the 3, attempting 33.2 per game. Its the third most in the NBA. They need a little work with shot effectiveness, however, averaging just 33.3 percent from behind the arc. Chicago, on the other hand, shoots (19.7) and scores (6.1) the fewest from downtown in the leagu per night. Like the Nets, the Bulls stink at efficiency, making just 30.8 percent.

Brooklyn tends to compete with poor 3-point shooting teams, going 4-0 ATS versus those averaging less than 33.5 percent from behind the arc entering a contest. We're not sure it covers the spread here, but it will force Chicago to push the attack. The combined score has reached 215 points or more in all eight road games the Nets have tipped off against a scoring defense allowing less than the NBA average of 104.3 points per game.
