It’s a short slate of NBA action tonight with only five games on the slate, but there are still some valuable NBA Odds. We were beat up by all of the land mines last night, but with less to choose from tonight, let’s see if we can pick the right spot tonight.

Pistons vs. Bucks
A Central Division showdown tips off tonight as the surging Pistons head into Milwaukee to play the Bucks. The NBA odds have the Pistons as -1 ½ favorites in this one, with a total of 195 ½. While the Pistons have been great ATS since trading Josh Smith, going 11-4 ATS, on the road here they don’t look as good. The Pistons will have a nice advantage in the paint, but as long as they don’t dominate the boards too much, I think the Bucks are actually the play here.

The Pistons are only 5-14 ATS in their last 19 games as favorites dating back to last season some, and they are only 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games as favorites between -1 and -4 1/2. The Bucks on the other hand are 22-6-1 ATS in their last 29 games following an ATS loss, and they are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against teams with losing records. Even though the Pistons have started playing better than a team with their record, I doubt they have enough to cover here on the road. The Bucks’ defense is still good enough to hold down the Pistons, and in the battle between Brandon Knight and Brandon Jennings, I’ll take Knight’s defense in this one.

Wizards vs. Trail Blazers
Despite their great start to the season, and their good record on the year, the Blazers are about to enter panic mode. I have said all season I don’t think they are as good as their record shows, and with a record of 17-2 SU against the East and 14-11 versus their own conference, they are in serious trouble right now. LaMarcus Aldridge will miss the next six to eight weeks with a thumb injury, and Nicholas Batum and Chris Kaman are both listed as questionable tonight against the Wizards. While I also think Washington could be a good bet ATS due to all of the injuries, I think a better wager is the over with a total of 195 ½, and a spread in favor of the Wizards at -3 1/2.

With the potential of the Blazers missing three starters tonight, the Wizards’ big men are going to feast down low. Both Aldridge and Robin Lopez have been confirmed out tonight, and coming off a big game where Nene and Marcin Gortat scored a combined 34 points, I expect that much or more tonight for the Wizards big men. John Wall is going to eat Damian Lillard for dinner tonight, and with all of the banged up Blazers, the over might be a great play. Washington could score 115 points tonight even on the road.

The over is 5-1 in the Blazers last six games against winning teams, and the over has hit on all five games for the Blazers this season as an underdog. No rim protection in Portland and a total of less than 200 points is money; take the over as your NBA pick.

NBA Pick: OVER 195 ½  at 5Dimes
