There are several games today but we will focus our attention on two totals to add to our NBA picks as we hope to exploit a few weaknesses we've found after reviewing the NBA odds for Sunday April 5th, 2015.

76'ers (31 O - 46 U) vs. Knicks (35 O - 38 U)
Hold your nose as you watch these two cellar dwellers vying for draft lottery supremacy. This stinker will be held at Madison Square Garden and for those who will be in attendance, you have Adam Silver's profound apologies.  However we're not looking for poetry in motion or even a game you can watch without wincing - we just want a winner and that will come in the form of 'under' 189 in this one.

These two clubs have played 'under' the posted NBA odds total in their last four consecutive games and we don't see any reason why that pattern will break here.  Both teams played under in their last game with Philly hopping on a plane after their 92-91 loss in Charlotte to arrive in the Big Apple on Easter Sunday nearing the end of a torturous season for both players and fans alike.  They want to suit up, go through the motions and fly home to rest and relax until they meet the Wizards at the Well Fargo Center on Wednesday.

Clippers (37 O - 38 U) vs. Lakers (35 O - 38 U)
The Battle of Los Angeles continues as the Clippers are hoping for a repeat of their last encounter with their neighborhood rivals when the Lakers bowed 114-89 and all those who bet 'under' the NBA odds total of 215 were counting their money after the final buzzer.  But that was back in early January and now the teams meet tonight and Tuesday in a home-and-home series in which home court will have absolutely no advantage...or disadvantage.

I say that of course because both clubs play their home games at the Staples Center but in a curious twist those games in which the Lakers were designated as the home team when playing the Clippers have gone over the posted total in five consecutive instances while games in which the Clippers are slotted as the home team versus the Lakers the total has gone over in three of five occurrences.  The fact that the Lakers are slated as the home team here should have positively nothing to do with our choice but I can't help but breathe just a bit easier that I am siding with 'over' the 210 total here.

The Lakers are coming off a spectacularly woeful performance two nights ago in this very same building when the Trailblazers swooped into town and put the shackles, the clamps or any other manacle you can think of when they limited the Lakers to only 77 points in what turned out to be a laugher for the visitors as they dropped a 107-77 drubbing on the home team.  But now the Lakers play a team that is focused far more on offense than defense.  The Clips have scored in triple digits in nine consecutive games and don't think for a moment that they won't tonight against the 28th ranked NBA defense.  The question is, can the Lakers get back on track offensively?  I think they can and here are a few betting trends to consider when making Sunday's NBA picks:

* Clippers totals have gone over in 13 of 18 games in which they have played on back-to-back days as they will here.

* Lakers have gone over the NBA odds total in six of seven when playing at home and the total is 210 or greater.

* Lakers games have gone over in 10 of 12 instances when playing divisional opponents as they will here against the Clippers.

* During the past three seasons the Lakers have gone over in 14 of 19 instances when scoring 85 points or less the game before.
