The Mavericks are set to be without Rajon Rondo, but they have more than enough firepower to survive, especially against a hopeless team like the Timberwolves. Who should we favor with our NBA picks?

Odds Overview
As one of the heaviest favorites on the NBA betting odds board, the Mavericks are going to come in favored by 12 points at home. They've covered some massive lines like this already this season, so we're not all that concerned by the high number.

We should be seeing one of the most up-tempo games of the slate in Dallas, with the O/U set at 206 right now. If you want to keep track of the odds movement, which often comes due to player news and injury adjustments, be sure to check out Sportsbook Review's odds monitoring site. It's a must-use tool.

Dallas Mavericks
Yes, Rajon Rondo is out, but overall the Mavericks are in a good spot right now, as we near the All Star break and conclusion of the first half of the regular season.

We've gotten enough of a sample size to know that Dallas is one of the elite teams in the NBA. Just look at that starting five (when all healthy) for reference. Rondo will be back and that'll be a boost, but Devin Harris and J.J. Barea have both shown they can get the job done when running the point. The Mavericks will be just fine.

Hopefully, that Rondo news will scare some people off of Dallas in this spot. The line is one of the highest out there on Monday, but it's for good reason. The Mavericks are one of the best teams in the league and shouldn't have an issue eventually pulling away from a banged up (and inexperienced) Minnesota squad.

How important is home-court advantage when placing your NBA picks?

Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves have a lot of injury questions heading into tonight's game. They have Mo Williams, Ricky Rubio and Zach LaVine all questionable for tonight's game, which makes it very tricky to project just good the rotation will look entering this game. Minnesota is trying to tank anyway, so we don't expect them to try to push too much and risk their best assets.

One of the constants, however, for the Timberwolves this season has been rookie sensation Andrew Wiggins. He started out a little slow out of the gate in his taste of NBA action, but he's progressed at an alarming rate and has already turned into one of the best players in the league. Minnesota really has a good one there.

But, while the future does indeed seem bright for the Timberwolves, who are trying to work Rubio, Nikola Pekovic and Kevin Martin back into the rotation, there are going to be some very poor results here in the near future. That's likely to include tonight's game, with Dallas itching to notch a third straight victory.

NBA Pick
Some will over-react to the news that Rondo is out, but the Mavericks are perfectly equipped to plug in Harris and not skip a beat. He has been more than serviceable when having to taker on a larger role, and we have to remember Dallas isn't exactly overly reliant on Rondo at this point in time.

More impetus will fall on the shoulders of Ellis too, and that's just fine. He's been a stud this season and should be able to find success against this leaky Minnesota defense.

At home and still with plenty to play for, don't be afraid to take the Mavs at this high number. They've got the personnel to inflict beatings to the lesser teams in the NBA, and the Timberwolves certainly qualify there. The Mavs could really use a positive result ahead of Wednesday's huge game against the Warriors.

With your NBA picks tonight, back Dallas to win big on their own court, much to the delight of a grinning Mark Cuban.
