In a slate of just 4 NBA games on this Monday, the Minnesota Timberwolves travel south to face CP3, Blake Griffin, and the L.A. Clippers. Minnesota ia huge underdog in this game and the betting total insists that we won't see much defense being played. See our take in what's expected to be a blowout as we provide you with our betting pick.

Tip-off is set for 10:30 pm ET tonight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles California. According to SBR's Live NBA page, the Clippers are an overwhelming 14.5 point betting favorite and the total for the game is listed at 215.5.

The T-Wolves really give the betting public no reason to believe that they''ll win this game. While that's true, 14.5 points are a lot to lay and the Clippers have had lapses in play. Will L.A. underperform tonight, and how should us bettors approach this spread with our NBA picks?

4 Game Winning Streak
Actually, Los Angeles is playing their best basketball of the season after getting off to a sluggish 7-5 start to the season.

According to Chris Paul on ESPN, the Clippers made their recent successful road trip a business trip as their defense was stupendous while Blake Griffin and Jamal Crawford led the way offensively. For the most part, what CP3 said is true with the exception of the win over Houston at the Toyota Center in which Houston was short 3 starters.

To me, Jamal Crawford has been that missing piece on offense as he's averaging 21.6 points per game in his last 5 games on over 50 % from the field and 46.2% from beyond the arc.

Crawford has clearly surpassed J.J. Redick as the 3rd option on the Clippers team and right now is the 2nd most productive player as a point producer. Although Crawford likes to play that playground style of basketball, he's been more under control and it's made the Clippers a dominant basketball squad.

Blake Griffin, who could be one of the scoring leaders in the NBA if he was a bit more selfish. Griffin has caught fire in his last 2 games, averaging 29 points and 8 rebound on 24 of 38 shooting from the field. The surprising thing is that Griffin hasn't been going to the foul line frequently with his physical style of play, but has simply been knocking down anything from 20 feet or less and if he continues to play like this, the Clippers will be considered championship contenders.

Surprise, Surprise
The Minnesota Timberwolves are coming off of a 107-93 loss last night to the Portland Trail Blazers in which superstar Damian Lillard wasn't supposed to play. Lillard did play and the Timberwolves simply don't have the talent to run with the Blazers especially without the offense of Kevin Martin.

One positive note that the Wolves can take away from this game is the play of Shabazz Muhammad off the bench. Muhmmad had a huge 28 point performance in just 30 minutes. If Minny could get more consistent play from their young hopefuls, they would be a much bigger threat to superior teams. Guys like Muhammad and Andrew Wiggins don't play well often enough for this team to win basketball games. Instead, they show glimpses of greatness.

A Place For Veterans To Excel
A team like Minnesota is the only place that you're going to see Mo Williams be one of the biggest offensive threats on a team and Thaddeus Young still has plenty of time to showcase his skills, but there's a reason why these players don't stay with just one team.

For the time being, the T-Wolves need the daily contributions of Mo and Thad as they average a collective 24.5 points per game while Young grabs a handful of rebounds and Williams is the team leader at 6.6 assists per game. (Ricky Rubio has only played 5 games this season). The bottom line is these veterans are serviceable and more consistent than the more talented, younger, but less consistent players on this squad.

Outcome
Minnesota doesn't get any rest on the 2nd half of a back to back, but this team has plenty of depth. On the other hand, the Clippers have plenty of momentum and polished talent and should handle the T-Wolves quite easily as the betting odds indicate. Lay the 14.5 points and take L.A.
