Our focus today will be on basketball and baseball since all the best line moves in the NHL are a direct reflection to goalie changes. This gives us five betting odds line moves for Thursday.
Like we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll. (477-420 L170D)
Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat 8:05 ET TNT
With Derrick Rose back in the mix for Chicago, coach Tom Thibodeau would like to build chemistry with Rose, Jimmy Butler, Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol and Mike Dunleavy before the playoffs begin. This group has started only 20 games together. "That's all you can do is try to build some continuity," Thibodeau said. With this in mind, those assembling NBA picks prefer the talent of the Bulls over Miami and switched Chicago from +1 to 1.5 road favorites. Neither team is playing well with the Heat feeling the heat having lost seven of 10 (2-8 ATS) and stand one game outside the playoff picture. The Bulls have lost 13 of 16 away from the United Center (5-11 ATS) and with their loss to Orlando last evening, are down to fourth in the East and could even lose home court advantage for the first round if this losing continues. NBA basketball handicappers are aware Chicago is 5-15 ATS after playing as a road favorite.
NBA Pick – Lean Miami
Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden State Warriors 10:35 ET TNT
The Trail Blazers understand what they are up against tonight. Golden State is off a pair of away setbacks and they have not lost three in a row all season and will want to crank up the offense after registering only 92 points at San Antonio and 100 at New Orleans. The Warriors average an NBA-best 112.9 points per game at home and in spite of how well the Portland defense can play, those calibrating the NBA odds expect points and sent the total two points higher to 210.5. While Golden State is 13-4 UNDER after they and their opponent both tallied 100 or more points when they were on the road, we’ll back the public here. We discovered the Blazers are 15-4 OVER when catching points in away games and 10-2 OVER as an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points this season.
NBA Pick – Play Over
San Francisco Giants vs. San Diego Padres 6:40 ET CSN-BA, FSN-SD
It is the home opener for San Diego and despite the fences being moved in for a second consecutive season; those making MLB picks have dropped the sportsbooks total of 7 to 6.5. The Tim Hudson vs. Ian Kennedy pitching matchup does not lend itself necessarily to a lower score, especially when you know that in Kennedy’s last six starts a year ago the Padres were 5-1 OVER. Yes, Hudson and Kennedy will both be stronger to start the season, yet despite the park, these two division rivals are 24-11-1 OVER in last 36 matchups at Petco Park.
MLB Pick – Play Over
Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees 7:05 ET RSN, YES
Though Toronto pitcher Daniel Norris is only 21 years old, baseball bettors prefer him and his teammates over the aging C.C. Sabathia and the New York Yankees. Sabathia has not pitched in a regulation game in nearly 11 months and this spring was lit up for nine runs in 10 innings of work. The hard-throwing Norris struck out 29 batters over 24 2/3 innings in the spring and if his control is tight, he could handcuff the Yankees offense. Because of the possibilities, the Jays have been turned around from +120 to -120, despite having lost 18 of 22 in the Bronx. With light rain expected and temperatures in the low 40’s, the total dipped like MSNBC ratings from 8 to 7 in the MLB odds. Sabathia should have confidence if not his best stuff being 10-1 in last dozen starts against Toronto and not sure what to make of the total in all honesty.
MLB Pick – New York wins and slight lean Over
