The Nets and Hornets are both in the drivers' seats in their tanks right now heading right down the middle of the NBA Draft Lottery Street. This late in the season that means defense is somewhat optional.

Charlotte has beaten the Nets twice this season and will look to do it for a third time at home tonight. The NBA oddsmakers have the Hornets as -6½, and while the Nets might be able to cover, the total of 216.5 seems to be a much better value.

The last two times the Hornets beat Brooklyn, they dropped 111 points, once at home and once on the road. The Nets are also a lot healthier than the last time they lost to the Hornets, which could really boost their scoring potential in this one.

In their last meeting, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson was not in action, and with him off the court this season the Nets’ offensive rating drops almost two full points. While RHJ has struggled some recently, he is going to be a matchup nightmare for most of the Hornets’ defenders.

On the flip side of the things, the Nets stand zero chance of slowing down the Hornets’ pick-and-roll offense between Kemba Walker and Dwight Howard. With Nicolas Batum also playing better than he has all season, the Charlotte ’ offense has been playing pretty well recently at home.

Charlotte is averaging 107 points per game in the last five overall, and in their last four home games they are averaging over 114 points per game. Considering the Hornets are also giving up almost 116 points over their last five games, look for this one to be a little higher scoring.
