Wednesday is a huge day for those placing NBA picks as there are 13 games on tonight’s schedule. One of the bigger ones could be the Thunder and Spurs, two teams who played last night.

Thunder Strike, Spurs Rest
Oklahoma City has had about as much bad luck as any team this season, but they are only +7 ½ underdogs in the NBA odds tonight against the Spurs, with a large total of 214 tonight. Oklahoma City beat a tanking Lakers team last night by te points, but the Spurs were unable to overcome a huge game from Monta Ellis last night in Dallas, as they lost to the Mavs.

However Tim Duncan and Tony Parker did not play much at all in the second half of that game, as the Spurs were down big at in the third quarter. So tonight, after only playing in the low 20s in minutes, will the Spurs be ready to try and stop Russell Westbrook tonight?

The key to that question might lie in the standings. The Thunder look like they may be going to the playoffs, however they might be without two of their three best players if they make it. However the Thunder are up three games on the Suns for the final playoff spot, so they have a nice cushion here, but they have no room to relax. The Spurs are in a similar situation. They are currently 6th, but only because they still own the tiebreaker over the Mavs, and they are only 3 ½ up on the Thunder.

The Sharp Pick
Knowing that both teams are going to be gunning for this win tonight, I think the Thunder represent a nice play here. The only issue is the Spurs’ defense is very good, but they aren’t good enough to slow down Westbrook in this one. The Thunder have covered their only meeting against the Spurs this season, which was a nice win for them on Christmas. However the circumstances are much different tonight.

But Oklahoma City still has a solid group of role players unlike in the past before the trade deadline, and they have been very good coming off the back to back this season. The Thunder are 10-4-1 ATS this season when playing on the second night of a back to back, and while the Spurs are also not back on back-to-backs, it’s mostly because of how much sportsbooks undervalue them on no rest.

The Thunder are 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games, and they are simply undervalued here on the road. They have now cashed five of their last six games in a row, and they have cashed four of their last five games on no rest. The Spurs have been good ATS recently as well cashing in four of their last six, but I see Westbrook and the Thunder keeping this game close enough to cover the spread. Add them to your NBA picks tonight.

NBA Pick: Thunder +7 ½ at Pinnacle
