The pre-All-Star Break portion of the 2018-19 NBA schedule wraps up Thursday night with a TNT game from New Orleans between the Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Guys have been stuck together since September and simply need the week off for their bodies and minds. We are truly in the dog days of the season right now, but expect to see much better and more intense basketball coming out of the break starting next Thursday.

This wraps up the season series between the clubs, so presumably the last time Anthony Davis faces the Thunder as a member of the Pelicans. OKC leads 2-1. They last played Jan. 24 in Oklahoma City, with the Thunder winning 122-116 behind a Russell Westbrook triple-double. Davis was out injured. Westbrook has averaged 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 10.7 assists vs. the Pels this year, while MVP candidate Paul George is averaging 23.7 points, 9.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists. Davis has averaged 32.0 points and 13.0 rebounds in two games. Jrue Holiday has averaged 21.3 points, 12.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

Strong words from JVG for the NBA and Pelicans owner Gayle Benson, regarding playing Anthony Davis. Says the NBA is bullying her with fines, says the league is wrong, and that she has missed an opportunity to take a stand for her team and all small market teams. pic.twitter.com/1uBDMTxVsU
— Aaron Bruski (@aaronbruski) February 9, 2019
\n\n"}[/]

Bet Thunder Or Pelicans ATS?

Oklahoma City might be the rare team not wanting the All-Star break to hit as the Thunder have won 11 of 12 to climb to third in the West standings and right on the tail of No. 2 Denver. Westbrook made history in Monday’s 120-111 win over Portland with his NBA-record 10th straight triple-double (21 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists).

While Westbrook may average another triple-double, George has been the team’s best player this season and a legit MVP candidate. He had his third career triple-double Monday with 47 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. They became the ninth pair of teammates to record a triple-double in the same game in NBA history. They were the first teammates ever to have 20-point triple-doubles in the same game. George is averaging 37 points over his past 10 and is up to third in the scoring race (28.7 ppg) while leading the league in steals (2.31).

Following all the Davis rumors, it sure appears as if New Orleans has mailed it in. The Pels lost at terrible Memphis on Saturday and then, inexplicably, by 30 at home to Orlando on Tuesday. Davis clearly wasn’t into it vs. the Magic with just three points on 1-for-9 shooting. Davis' scoring output was the lowest of his career in any game where he played at least 21 minutes, and it was the fewest points the Pels have scored this season.

"We sucked," Davis said. "Nobody was interested in playing.” He has a lot of nerve calling out his teammates.

Thunder are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings in New Orleans.

Thunder are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games playing on 2 days of rest.

Always tough to handicap the last game before the break as some players’ minds already are off basketball. And that's a lot of points to give to a home team. However, I just can’t expect New Orleans to care whatsoever. That’s a team with some major issues in the locker room and should sit Davis the rest of the season, fines from the league office be damned. Take OKC for a Thursday NBA bet.
