Are the Golden State Warriors running away with the NBA title? We’ll see, but the Dubs aren’t one of our preferred NBA picks as we get ready to ring in the postseason.

How about those Golden State Warriors? Even without Kevin Durant, they’ve been red-hot this past couple of weeks, winning nine straight games at 7-2 ATS. There is no better team in basketball, and Bovada has them as –140 favorites over the field to regain their title. Over the field!

It’s a fair price, too. The hoop nerds at FiveThirtyEight project Golden State to win the NBA championship 58 percent of the time, which works out to –138 using our incredibly handy SBR Betting odds converter. In fact, most of the teams on the NBA futures market are pretty close to where they “should” be. Not the Cleveland Cavaliers, though. FiveThirtyEight only gives them a 2-percent chance (!) to defend their title, so you might want to steer clear from them at +300.

Washington Wizards (+3300)

Instead, here are the three teams who offer at least some betting value for your NBA picks with the playoffs just around the corner:

The Wizards are two games out of first place in the Eastern Conference heading into Friday’s action. I know, right? They started the season off slowly, but once the Wiz got healthy – especially since Ian Mahinmi made his return in February – they became the quality contenders they were supposed to be. FiveThirtyEight gives Washington a 4-percent chance of winning the title; that suggests a fair price of +2400.

Toronto Raptors (+4000)

All that baked-in betting value you get with the Raptors is even tastier now. Serge Ibaka and P.J. Tucker have put their defensive stamp on this allegedly soft team, keeping them in the top half of the East even without the services of Kyle Lowry, who’s due back from wrist surgery any day now. Toronto’s 3-percent title shot translates to +3233 using our odds converter.

Miami Heat (+15000)

It’s a long shot, but a viable one. Miami has outplayed pretty much everyone during the second half of the season, enough to climb back into playoff position in the East – but only by a thread. Although bad health could spoil everything, FiveThirtyEight projects the Heat at one percent to win the title, which converts to +9900. Think LeBron James regrets leaving yet?
