Golden State Warriors are poised for the sweep over the New Orleans Pelicans this weekend. Here's a preview of the highly anticipated Game 4, complete with our NBA betting verdict and picks.

Golden State Warriors (3-0, 1-0 away)
The Golden State Warriors are off to a rousing start in the NBA Playoffs, playing up to their lofty standards and winning three straight to take control of their first round series with the New Orleans Pelicans. Advancing into the next round seems practically inevitable as no team has come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a series in the NBA Playoffs. The only question therefore is how will they accomplish the feat? Will they pull it off without a hitch or will the Pelicans take at least one moral victory?

If the NBA odds were any indication, the sweep seems most likely. The Warriors are matched as the prohibitive favourites at -330 to win outright and as the 7-point road chalk. The market stance is in tune to their account in the postseason so far, despite the Pelicans putting up a good fight. In fact, the Pelicans nearly got one over the Warriors but for Steph Curry tucking a last-gasp three-pointer into the basket with just 2.8 seconds left in the game to send it into overtime.

An exhilarating overtime ensued with end-to-end action, and while the Pelicans gave it their all the Warriors showed their class and quality and won 123-119 in the end. The Pelicans did however sneak in the cover as the 5.5-point road underdogs, small consolation though that is.

New Orleans Pelicans
As game 3 ended with a 123-119 loss in overtime, the agony was visible on the Pelicans bench at what might have been a series salvaging victory at home. To be so close, yet so far away must be disheartening and it's hard to see how they'll come back from that depleting effort.

The Pelicans gave it their all. They didn't give it to the Warriors. Rather they made them earn it. One could go so far as to say the punched above their weight class and gave the Warriors a serious run for their money.

It's also fair to say that the Pelicans don't deserve to be down 0-3 in the series. Unfortunately, that is the reality of their first playoff appearance under their new franchise name.

Predictably, the NBA odds are stacked against them severely as they go into game 4 as whopping +265 home underdogs and the 7-point home underdogs against the spread. It would seem though that bookies are not only predicting a loss in game 4, but a hefty one. In other words, the Pelicans are expected to lose their fighting spirit.

NBA Betting Verdict
Overall, it's a grim outlook for the Pelicans on the NBA odds board. To lose and lose in a big way isn't how they'd like to go out surely? What's more, it goes against the NBA betting trends established in this series which saw the Pelicans cover all three games, including the first two that boasted hefty 12.5-point and 13-point spreads. For those looking to back the Pelicans on their NBA picks, therefore, the 7-points is a reasonable spread to cover when considering two of the games were lost by five points or less.

Take the Warriors to win outright, but the Pelicans to do down fighting and cover as the 7-point home underdogs. In that at least there is a moral victory to be had.

NBA Picks: Warriors to win -330; Pelicans to cover +7.0 at The Greek
