With the Golden State Warriors on the second leg of a back to back, oddsmakers have made them just a small road favorite in Dallas tonight. The Mavericks have turned their season around over the past two months; can they find a way to upset the Warriors?

Golden State Warriors

Golden State is a bit of a tough position tonight after playing Oklahoma City last night and now will face a Dallas team that is trying to breathe new life into their season. Prior to their game versus Oklahoma City, Golden State has been beatable since the All-Star break and is just 5-5 since the end of February. Still, Golden State remains one of the best teams in the league and has the statistics to back it up currently ranking first offensively in points per game, effective field-goal percentage, and shooting efficiency. If that is not enough, they also rank first in the league on the other side of the ball in opponent effective field-goal percentage and opponent shooting efficiency.

However, despite the strong statistics they have been vulnerable to teams that go at a slower pace and grind them out in which Dallas might do tonight. Although they haven’t said they will be resting any starters, head Coach Steve Kerr might do just that with this second game in a row so you might want to grab the line early.

Dallas Mavericks

Dallas is a completely different team than what we saw earlier in the season and since the All-Star break is a solid 8-5. As mentioned, they catch Golden State in a good spot here with the back to back scenario, but overall this Dallas team should come in with a lot of confidence to not only stay within the number but possibly pull the upset. In fact, I expect them to do just that as they have been playing very well at home since the end of January going 10-3 these past several weeks in Dallas, and two of those games they lost by just a combined three points. Of course, the Mavericks are not as good as Golden State and look to be well out of the playoff race, but for me, this is about the situation.

Also, Dallas plays to the type of pace that can sometimes give Golden State trouble as they average just 82 attempts per game which ranks second to last in the NBA. Then on the other side of the ball, they are holding teams to just 78.4 attempts for the game which ranks them first in the league.

Golden State Warriors vs Dallas Mavericks

Oddsmakers have come out making Dallas a +4 underdog and for my NBA pick, I will take them plus the points. With the scenario as it is and how Dallas is played recently, I believe there is good value taking them to hang in tonight and possibly even pull the upset.
