Last month the Houston Rockets took care of business at home against the Chicago Bulls. Today they meet up in Chicago with the Rockets being the road favorite. Can Chicago pull off the upset?

Houston Rockets

Mike D’Antoni has this team humming along offensively and currently they rank second in the NBA in scoring, effective field-goal percentage, and shooting efficiency. Since the All-Star break though they have struggled a touch going 4-3 but I like how they match up with Chicago. Tonight what concerns me some, as I’ve mentioned before, is the fact Houston plays little to no defense. Currently the Rockets are allowing 108.4 points per game which ranks 24th in the NBA. They also rank in the bottom part of league in most defensive categories highlighted by allowing opponents to shoot 51.5% on their two-point shots which ranks them 27th. As well, they are allowing opponents to shoot 46.2% overall from the floor which ranks them 23rd. Surprisingly though despite all these poor defensive statistics Chicago is not much better on that end and offensively there is really no comparison. Along with their stellar offensive statistics as I’ve mentioned Houston also ranks first in the NBA in three-pointers made per game. Expect them to roll in this contest.

Chicago Bulls

Although Chicago is at home I simply don’t think they will have the same success that they did in their last game versus Houston. Statistically, they are pretty poor on both sides of the ball ranking in the bottom of the league in several categories. Currently, Chicago is shooting just 44.1% from the floor and 32.6% from distance ranking them 27th and 29th in the league respectively. They also rank 29th and dead last in shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage respectively. Things do not get much better for them on the other side of the ball as they allow opponents to shoot 46.3% which ranks them 24th in the NBA.Their overall opponent shooting efficiency is not bad but I’ve a hard time believing they are going to get a lot of stops against a Houston team that can put up points in a hurry. Do not expect the Chicago team to play nearly as well as they didn’t Houston a short time back and look for the Rockets to win this game by double digits.

NBA Odds

Oddsmakers have Houston as a -4.5 favorite and for my NBA pick, I will back them in that spot. There are going to be some tough matchups the next few weeks for Chicago and tonight won't be an exception. I look forward to using their schedule scenario to fade them in upcoming road games as well.

Free NBA Pick: Houston -4.5

Best Line Offered: at Bookmaker

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3068719, "sportsbooksIds":[93,238,1096,123,180], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
