Pistons-Knicks: The Match-Up
Detroit began this season with a wins OVER/UNDER of 36; at the moment the Pistons are still on a pace to win only 21 games.

But Detroit carries a three-game winning streak into the Garden tonight. Last Friday the Pistons beat Indiana 119-109, winning outright as three-point home dogs; Sunday Detroit crunched the Cavs in Cleveland 103-80, winning SU as a seven-point dog; and Tuesday night the Pistons won in Orlando 109-86, covering as two-point favorites on the road.

Detroit led the Magic by 10 points through three quarters Tuesday, then put the game away with a 10-0 run. For the night the Pistons shot 47 percent from the floor, made 14 of 33 shots from 3-point land and committed just 11 turnovers.

So since G Jodie Meeks returned to the lineup from injury Detroit has gone 5-4 both SU and ATS.

On the other side of this match-up New York went off this season with a wins O/U of 41; to those who bet the OVER on that prop, we offer our sincere condolences.

The Knicks have lost nine in a row, and 19 of their last 20 games, after falling at the Clippers Wednesday night 99-78, whiffing on the cover as 13-point road dogs. Just before that New York lost at Portland 101-79 as an 11-point dog; and just before that they lost at Sacramento in overtime 135-129, pushing the spread as six-point dogs.

The Knicks trailed at LA by 10 points at the half Wednesday, and could get no closer. New York shot just 38 percent from the field, and while it held the Clippers to 44 percent shooting, it also got outrebounded 62-49.

Big-picture, Detroit, at 8-23, trails eighth-place Miami by five games in the Eastern Conference standings, while New York, at 5-29, is fighting with Philadelphia to stay out of the cellar.

Pistons-Knicks Recent History
Detroit took the first meeting this season between these two teams 98-95 back in November. The Pistons led that game by 18 points early in the fourth quarter, but New York got within three points in the waning seconds, before succumbing. Detroit shot just 37 percent from the field, but hit 11 of 23 shots from beyond the arc. However, the Knicks' late rally garnered them a back-door cover as four-point underdogs.

That game looked like an UNDER all the way, with the score at 75-59 through three quarters, but the teams combined to score 59 points in the fourth, sending the game OVER its total of 186.

Last season Detroit took two of three games from New York; all three of those games played UNDER, as neither team scored more than 96 points.

Injury Update
Knicks F Carmelo Anthony is dealing with a perpetually sore knee, and remains a day-to-day situation. New York is also still without F Amare Stoudemire, who's missed the last three games with his own sore knee. But the Knicks did get some good news recently with the returns of JR Smith and Andrea Bargnani.
