Mismatch, blowout, however you want to view the potential of this tilt, the sportsbooks NBA odds are going to suggest this will not be much of a game for many reasons to start a new week.

Sacramento is on the throes of another throw away season and have made two head coaching changes already this year. The Kings are not among NBA royalty, Atlanta certainly is and will be large favorites heading into Monday night. NBA odds total for this game sits around 207 points.

All Sacramento Needs is a Doorman
The Kings are halfway through an eight-game road trip. Everything started well as Sacramento buried New York (who doesn’t) 124-86. Yet, since that contest, Sac-Town is 0-3 SU and ATS and has conceded 115 points a game in those three contests. (The 114 points to Miami in last game was in OT)

This doesn’t take away from the fact Sacramento is 27th in points allowed at 104.7 PPG, allows the opposing team to make 50 percent of two- point attempts (T-26th) and is 23rd in the metric known as opponent’s True Shooting percentage.

In other words, all the Kings need on defense is a doorman with a big smile who says “Welcome” when opposing teams wants to head to the basket. Coach George Karl has stated the defensive woes are not one particular issue, which means collectively he has a bunch of players who want to score and not defend.

With how effective and precise Atlanta runs its offense, you don’t have to be a NBA basketball handicapper to understand the Kings are going to have to bring effort on both ends of the floor to compete with the Hawks.

Atlanta Looks to Return to Even Keel
After defeating Cleveland 106-97 in a big game on TNT Thursday at home, Al Horford and several other Atlanta players proclaimed it was just another game in which they did what they were supposed to do.

With the Hawks 49-13 and 39-21-2 ATS this season, it was easy to believe them until the next night. Atlanta traveled to floundering Philadelphia and one night after shooting 51.2 percent, they were 30-77 from the field (39%) and committed 19 turnovers in tumbling the Sixers 92-84 as 7.5- point favorites.

For those placing daily sports picks, Atlanta has been a hallmark of consistency. However, they proved human, getting a little too happy about defeating the Cavs, only to lose to Philly.

Coach Mike Budenholzer will work on his team’s mental frame to make sure they return to how they have played virtually all season, taking the clichéd –one game at a time- which has worked wonders for this club. The singular focus has allowed the Hawks to be fourth in field goal percentage (46.5%) and fifth in field goal percentage defense (43.3%). The only other squad to be in the Top 7 in both categories is Golden State.

Betting Odds and Head to Head
On the overnight line, the NBA odds showed Atlanta as an 11-point home favorite with a total of 207.

To say this series has been one-sided is like saying Google Plus is not as popular as it used to be. Atlanta has won 12 in a row with 10 covers and the last time the Kings won in Atlanta, Destiny’s Child were big winners at the 20th Soul Train Music Awards. (March -2006)

Scheduling
Tonight’s contest marks the second half of Sacramento’s eight-game road trip, seven which are east of the Mississippi River. The last three encounters will be played in four days starting Wednesday in Charlotte, Philadelphia and Washington. Off their 114-109 loss at Miami as one- point away favorites on Saturday, the Kings are 7-15 and 6-15-1 ATS versus the Eastern Conference and 10-23 (14-16-1 ATS) with one day off.

After this affair, Atlanta heads out on a six-game road, with the first four manageable (Denver, Phoenix, Lakers and these same Kings), but the last two will be true tests versus Golden State and Oklahoma City. Those making NBA picks, take note, the Hawks are 26-4 and 22-8 ATS with a day between games.

The Choice
A case could be made the Kings have a chance at being competitive since they are 11-16 ATS on the road and losing by 6.5 PPG.
However, forget it, Atlanta will want to get the bad taste out of there system from Philadelphia loss and since they have an amazing stretch of knowing how to dismantle Sacramento, expect more of the same and take them with your NBA picks.
