Grizzlies gained a win over a East contender, Chicago Bulls & Wizards have also just won a game by 26 points on the road. This looks like a toss-up, which is why we see a PICK on the NBA odds here.

The Memphis Grizzlies Can Win Because…
Their win over Chicago should herald more improvement in the days to come. The Grizzlies looked really sharp against Chicago. The Bulls hit 10 of 22 three-point shots, and when an NBA team shoots the ball like that from three-point range, its opponent should generally be in trouble. However, Memphis beat a hot three-point shooting Chicago squad by 10 points on the road. That’s very impressive. The reality of playing Pau Gasol seemed to fire up Marc Gasol, who outplayed his older brother and relished the challenge of being able to go up against him. Marc Gasol was 10 of 16 from the field and 3 of 3 from the foul line in a strong 23-point performance. Pau Gasol was only 6 of 14 from the field for 13 points.

In addition to Marc Gasol being great, Jeff Green went 7 of 11 from the field. Zach Randolph was 7 of 12. Tony Allen, in a bit of a surprise, was 5 of 8 shooting. Vince Carter added a 4 of 6 performance from the field. This team really clicked against a good defensive team. Skeptics will say that the Grizzlies were playing the Bulls without Derrick Rose. That might be true, but you’ll notice that Memphis’ hot shooters were not mostly guards – they were mostly frontcourt players. If Memphis really has found itself, it’s going to be very hard for Washington to beat the Grizzlies.

Memphis might be a modest 6-4 in its last 10 games, but Washington is 3-7 in its last 10, and the Wizards have had a truly awful time playing good teams. Washington’s last victory over a team with a winning record is way back on January 14 against Chicago.

The Washington Wizards Can Win Because…
They're going to be confident after the kind of defense they played on Monday at Charlotte. The Wizards have been dealing with a lot of problems, but when a team makes what feels like a breakthrough, it can kickstart a team and lead to a lot of good things. The Wizards were remarkable on defense in the second half of that game against Charlotte. They allowed only 14 points in the third quarter, which is excellent and something which no team should ever expect to duplicate within the same game. If you allow one 14-point quarter and simply avoid allowing 30 or more points in any other quarter, you’ll very likely do well. Yet, the Wizards actually did better in the fourth quarter against Charlotte – they allowed only nine points. That’s right – Washington allowed only 23 second-half points to the Hornets and won by a 95-69 score. With two full days of rest for this game and the ability to play Memphis at home, the Wizards should feel optimistic about what they can achieve.

Do you trust what Memphis did in Chicago, or what Washington did in the second half in Charlotte? The better answer is what Memphis did in Chicago, because the Bulls, even without Derrick Rose, are much better than Charlotte right now. Take the Grizzlies with your NBA picks here.
