Los Angeles Lakers have played better basketball this season despite the fact they are sitting at 5-7. Today they travel to Milwaukee catching the Bucks on the second leg of a back to back. Can Los Angeles not only stay within the number but perhaps pull off the upset?

Los Angeles vs Milwaukee

The Lakers have not had it easy their last two contests on the road facing Boston and Washington two of the perennial East powers. Today they continue facing Eastern conference teams as they take on the new look Milwaukee Bucks in Milwaukee with newly acquired point guard Eric Bledsoe. Odds makers have set the number pretty low for a reason in that Milwaukee is coming back from facing San Antonio so this could be a tough spot for them. For my NBA pick I’m going to forgo the points and actually take a shot here with the Lakers on the plus money line is I like them in this spot. The last three times they have faced Milwaukee under head coach Luke Walton they are 1-2 but only lost those other two games by seven and four points respectively. The win was actually in this same building just back in February of this year.

On the season the Lakers have improved statistically across the board with some nice offensive statistics shooting 52.2% on their two-point shots and averaging 40.1 field goals made per game ranking them ninth and eighth in the NBA respectively. The only issue they’re having on the offensive end is the fact they have not been good shooting from beyond the arc ranking dead last in the NBA in that category at just 29%. However, I like how they matchup with Milwaukee and defensively they should be able to get enough stops against a very athletic Bucks team as Los Angeles ranks seventh in opponent shooting efficiency, but more importantly, they are allowing opponents to shoot just 31.9% from distance which ranks fourth in the NBA. Ultimately for me this about the fact they are catching Milwaukee coming back home after playing San Antonio last night, and in this situation overall since last season the Bucks are just 8-10 against the number and 9-12 straight up.
