By the Numbers is a daily NBA column featuring Swinger’s top selections according to historical trends and game-time matchups. Let’s review the top picks for Friday.

Pacers (37-38 SU, 33-41-1 ATS) At Raptors (45-30 SU, 41-33-1 ATS)
  • Toronto is  4-1 ATS in their last five games following a straight up loss.
  • Toronto is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 Friday games.
  • Toronto is 5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss.
  • Toronto is 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5.
  • Indiana is 2-6 ATS in their last eight when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Indiana is 0-6 ATS in their last six road games.
  • Indiana is 0-5 ATS in their last five road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
  • Indiana is 1-6 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days' rest.

The Pacers are swooning at the wrong time of the season, having lost four of five and failing to cover the NBA odds in those contests. They are now on their second stop of a three-game road swing and have been lousy on the highway all seasonwith an 11-25 road record, which has translated into an only slightly better 13-23 ATS mark. Not surprisingly then, Indiana has failed to cash for all those who have backed them in their NBA picks over the course of their last six road contests. Conversely, Toronto recently ripped off six straight wins, covering in five, until it stumbled against Charlotte in their last outing. Look for the Raptors to get back on track and handle the Pacers as easily as they did less than two weeks ago when they shredded Indiana to the tune of 116-91 as 2½-point home faves.

76ers (28-47 SU, 47-27-1 ATS) At Cavaliers (47-27 SU, 32-39-3 ATS)
  • Cleveland is 1-5 ATS in their last six games vs. a team with a winning percentage below .400.
  • Cleveland is 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss.
  • Cleveland is  2-8 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
  • Cleveland is 2-7 ATS in their last nine games playing on zero days' rest.
  • Philadelphia is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight up loss.
  • Philadelphia is 9-0 ATS in their last nine Friday games.
  • Philadelphia is 5-1 ATS in their last six games as an underdog of 5.0-10.5.
  • Philadelphia is 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers may be talented, but they just don't appear to be all that tough. On Thursday, they lost to the Bulls outright as 5½-point road chalk and now must fly home to meet a team in the 76ers that continues to cash for all their backers. Philadelphia may have a dismal record, but its ATS covers have been on fire the second half of the season. Oh, and one other thing: the Sixers are 8-1 ATS vs. Cleveland over their last nine meetings.
