By the Numbers is a daily NBA column featuring three top selections according to historical trends and game time matchups. Let’s review the top picks for Friday.

Kings (18-27 SU, 22-22-1 ATS) vs. Pacers (23-22 SU, 19-26 ATS)
  • Indiana is 1-5 ATS in their last six after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

  • Indiana is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Friday games.

  • Indiana is 0-4 ATS in their last four games as a favorite.

  • Indiana is 6-20 ATS in their last 26 games when their starting five players combine for more than 160 minutes of the previous day.

  • Indiana is 8-22 ATS in their last 30 games playing on zero day’s rest.

  • Sacramento is 4-1 ATS in their last five when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game

  • Sacramento is 4-1 ATS in their last five road games.

  • Sacramento is 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a road underdog

  • Sacramento is 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

Don’t let Indiana’s road record of 16-6 fool you. When factoring in the NBA odds, that record plummets to 12-10 ATS. The Kings straight up road record is 10-14 but their ATS number fares better at 13-11. In addition, Sacramento is 2-0 straight up and against the number in their last two trips to the Fieldhouse. The Pacers are flying directly from Minnesota after their win last night to suit up tonight against a Kings’ team that has covered their last three consecutive games.

Nets (9-36 SU, 19-24-2 ATS) vs. Cavaliers (30-14 SU, 18-24-2 ATS)
  • Cleveland is 11-3 ATS in their last 14 Friday games.

  • Cleveland is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games as a home favorite of 11.0 or greater.

  • Cleveland is 4-1 ATS in their last five as a home favorite of 12.5 or more

  • Brooklyn is 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games following a straight up loss.

  • Brooklyn is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

  • Brooklyn is 0-8 ATS in their last eight games playing on one day’s rest.

The Cavaliers are in the midst of a stunning three-game losing streak but the worst team in the league is coming to town and the Cavs have destroyed them in their last two visits including an 119-99 demolition in December. All who backed Cleveland as prohibitive 16 ½ point favorites in their NBA picks went away happy in that one. This is more of the same.

Hornets (23-23 SU, 21-24-1 ATS) vs. Knicks (20-27 SU, 26-21 ATS)
  • New York is 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a straight up loss.

  • New York is 10-2 ATS in their last 12 Friday games.

  • New York is 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games following an ATS loss.

  • Charlotte is 1-4 ATS in their last five after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

  • Charlotte is 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a double-digit loss at home.

  • Charlotte is 1-5 ATS in their last six games as a road favorite.

  • Charlotte is 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

The Knicks are 14-9 ATS at home while the Hornets are 9-12 ATS on the road. Though neither team has been tearing it up lately, the Hornets are a dismal 2-10 ATS against Atlantic division opponents and have failed to win or cover in two of their last three appearances at MSG.
