By The Numbers is a daily NBA column featuring Swinger’s top selections according to historical trends and game-time matchups. Let’s review the top picks for Friday.

Warriors (52-12 SU, 29-33-2 ATS) At Timberwolves (26-37 SU, 30-33 ATS)

  • Minnesota is 5-1 ATS in their last six games as an underdog of 5.0-10.5.
  • Minnesota is 8-1 ATS in their last nine games as a home underdog.
  • Minnesota is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600.
  • Minnesota is 6-0 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win.
  • Golden State is 1-5 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss.
  • Golden State is 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite of 5.0-10.5.
  • Golden State is 0-6 ATS in their last six when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Golden State is 0-4 ATS in their last four games playing on one day’s rest.

The Warriors were handed a stunning loss to the Boston Celtics at Oracle Arena in their last outing and are a dismal 9-21 ATS against teams with a losing record (like the T-Wolves). Of course, the NBA odds makers are harnessing Golden State with inflated numbers due to the public’s insatiable thirst to back big favorites. The Timberwolves delivered an ATS cover for all those who backed them in their NBA picks the last time these teams met in December at the Target Center, keeping it close enough in their 116-108 loss as 10-point home dogs. We see no reason to believe Minnesota’s seven-game ATS winning streak will stop tonight against the Durant-less Warriors.

NBA Free Pick: Wolves +5

Raptors (38-26 SU, 35-28-1 ATS) At Hawks (35-29 SU, 29-35 ATS)

  • Atlanta is 1-4 ATS in their last five after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Atlanta is 0-4 ATS in their last four Friday games.
  • Atlanta is 0-4 ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss.
  • Atlanta is 0-5 ATS in their last five home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
  • Toronto is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Friday games.
  • Toronto is 4-1 ATS in their last five games as an underdog.
  • Toronto is 6-2 ATS in their last eight games as a road underdog of 0.5-4.5.
  • Toronto is 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a road underdog.

The Raptors are 3-1 straight up and against the spread vs. the Hawks in their last four trips to Philips Arena. The only caveat in backing Toronto is that tonight will be the fourth stop of a five-game road swing and the team could be a bit lethargic, while the Hawks have enjoyed a six-game homestand with this being the finale before they head out to Memphis. Otherwise, look for the Raptors to win this one outright against a Hawks team that is just 13-20 ATS at home while Toronto boasts a respectable 18-14 ATS mark on the highway this season.

NBA Free Pick: Raptors +2.5
