By the Numbers is a daily NBA column featuring Swinger’s top selections according to historical trends and game time matchups. Let’s review the top picks for Thursday’s slate and cash in our NBA picks.

Cavaliers (47-26 SU, 32-38-3 ATS) vs. Bulls (35-39 SU, 37-37 ATS)

* Chicago is 20-7 ATS in their last 27 Thursday games.

* Chicago is 5-0 ATS in their last five games as an underdog of 5.0-10.5.

* Chicago is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games as a home underdog.

* Chicago is 20-7 ATS in their last 27 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600.

* Cleveland is 1-4 ATS in their last five after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.

* Cleveland is 2-7 ATS in their last nine games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

* Cleveland is 16-33-2 ATS in their last 51 games following a straight up loss of more than 10 points.

* Cleveland is 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

The NBA odds makers keep installing the Cavaliers as favorites when they meet the Bulls but over the course of the last four meetings between these clubs it has been Chicago not only covering the number but winning each and every game outright. This is the fourth and final meeting between the teams and once again the Cavs are a fairly sizeable road favorite.

But what’s even more compelling than any of the above stats or recent head-to-head matchup between the clubs is the Bulls’ mind-boggling success on TNT Thursday night games in Chicago. They have won 18 games outright in this scenario that dates back over four years ago! That streak continued in their last home TNT game on March 2nd with a 94-87 victory over the Warriors as 7 ½ point home dogs. The moon and the stars are aligning for not only a Bulls’ cover but perhaps a dalliance with the money line on this live home dog.

Lakers (21-53 SU, 31-41-2 ATS) vs. Timberwolves (29-44 SU, 33-40 ATS)

* Minnesota is 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a favorite.

* Minnesota is 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a straight up win.

* Minnesota is 7-2 ATS in their last nine games following an ATS win.

* Minnesota is 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.

* Los Angeles is 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games vs. a team with a winning percentage below .400.

* Los Angeles is 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games following an ATS loss.

* Los Angeles is 1-5 ATS in their last six games as a road underdog.

* Los Angeles is 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games as an underdog of 5.0-10.5.

These clubs last met in Minnesota back in November when the Timberwolves cruised to a 125-99 victory and easily delivered the dough to all those who backed them in their NBA picks as one-point home dogs. Fast forward to tonight and the Lakers have fallen so far that they are installed as double-digit dogs to a sub .500 team. The T-Wolves are a streaky ATS team. Not long ago they reeled off eight consecutive ATS winners, then followed it up with a six-game ATS losing streak. Tuesday night Minny snapped that streak with a 115-114 road win over the Pacers as four-point road pups. I smell another streak coming and if any team is vulnerable to a blowout it's the LA Lakers.
