By the Numbers is a daily NBA column featuring Swinger’s top selections according to historical trends and game time matchups. Let’s review the top picks for Thursday.

Jazz (43-25 SU, 30-35-2 ATS) At Cavaliers (44-22 SU, 31-33-2 ATS)
  • Cleveland is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games as a favorite.
  • Cleveland is  8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS win.
  • Cleveland is 6-2 ATS in their last eight games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
  • Cleveland is 10-4 in their last 14 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Utah is 3-10 ATS in their last 13 Thursday games.
  • Utah is 6-18 ATS in their last 24 road games vs. a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600.
  • Utah is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games as a road underdog of 5.0-10.5.
  • Utah is 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games playing on zero day's rest.

The Jazz may be winners of six of their last seven (4-3 ATS), but they have not fared well in the second leg of back-to-back contests as their 0-3-1 ATS record attests over their last four in that situation. In addition, they dribble into the lion's den where LeBron James and Co. are keenly aware of their last meeting in which the Jazz defeated the Cavs in Utah on Jan. 10. Cleveland has covered the NBA odds in its last three contests and shoots for four straight tonight. I say the Cavs get it.

Thunder (38-29, 37-29-1 ATS) At Raptors (39-28 SU, 36-30-1 ATS)
  • Toronto is 1-7 ATS in their last eight games as a favorite of 0.5-4.5.
  • Toronto is 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a straight up win.
  • Toronto is 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win.
  • Toronto is 1-5 ATS in their last six after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Oklahoma City is 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games.
  • Oklahoma City is 5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win.
  • Oklahoma City is 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a straight up win of more than 10 points.
  • Oklahoma City is 25-12 ATS in their last 37 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.

The last time these teams met in Toronto, the Thunder rolled to a 119-100 victory. That was in March 2016, but even though a year has passed we get an Oklahoma City team that has delivered three consecutive ATS winners for all those backing OKC in their NBA picks. Conversely, the Raptors have failed to cover in two of their last three and could again be without the services of DeMarre Carroll, who is contending with an ankle injury.
