The Atlanta Hawks (43-30) visit the Palace in Auburn Hills to take on the Detroit Pistons (39-34). The Pistons are favored by 1.5 points on the NBA odds board and the total is set at 206.

Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks are on a roll, winning seven of their last eight games, including last night's 101-90 home victory against the Milwaukee Bucks. Jeff Teague had 12 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter to help the Hawks prevail despite shooting just 5-for-32 from three-point range, with Teague himself going 0-for-5 from beyond the arc and finishing with a game-high six turnovers. Atlanta needs him to take better care of the ball and improve his shot selection in order to have a chance tonight.

The Hawks average 102.8 points per game (14th in the league) and shoot 46.0 percent from the floor (10th in the NBA) and 34.9 percent from three-point range and they pull down 41.8 rebounds per game. Atlanta allows 99.0 points per game (sixth in the league) and their opponents shoot just 43.3 percent overall (second in the NBA) and 33.5 percent from beyond the arc (fifth in the league) and grab 46.1 rebounds per game.

Paul Millsap leads the team with 17.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals, Al Horford averages 15.4 points and 7.1 rebounds and Jeff Teague adds 15.0 points and a team-best 5.9 assists.

Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons are also on fire, going 6-2 in their last eight games, including five wins in a row. The Pistons are coming off an impressive 112-105 home win against the Charlotte Hornets behind 21 points from Kevtavious Caldwell-Pope and 18 points and 14 rebounds from Andre Drummond. Detroit led 72-56 at the half and they never looked back, extending their lead over Chicago for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot to two games.

The Pistons average 102.5 points per game on 44.2 percent shooting overall and 34.2 percent from beyond the arc and they grab 46.2 rebounds per game (third in the league). Defensively, Detroit gives up 101.5 points per game (12th in the NBA) and their opponents shoot 46.2 percent from the floor and 35.4 percent from three-point range the arc and pull down 42.5 rebounds per game.

Reggie Jackson leads the Pistons with 18.7 points and 6.3 assists, Andre Drummond averages 16.7 points and a team-best 14.9 rebounds per game and Tobias Harris adds 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds.

Betting Trends
The Hawks are 39-33 ATS, 19-16 ATS in road games, 10-3 ATS in March games, 16-9 after a win by 10 points or more and 22-15 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record.

The Pistons are 37-34 ATS, 6-1 ATS as a home favorite of 3 points or less, 11-13 ATS in the second half of the season and 4-5 ATS after three or more consecutive wins.

Final Analysis
The Pistons are a 1.5-point favorite on the NBA odds board and the total has been set at 206. This will be the fourth meeting of the season between these two teams. The Hawks lead the season series 2-1 and even though both teams are playing extremely well, I like the visitors for one of my NBA picks. The Pistons have a lot of talent with Jackson, Drummond, Harris, Caldwell-Pope and Marcus Morris, who has been a key contributor as of late, but the Hawks also need this game for playoff positioning and their superior defense will keep things close and help them upset Detroit.
