The Phoenix Suns have already defeated the defending champion San Antonio Spurs but they’ve also lost by 27 points to the Utah Jazz. Will we see the good Suns or the bad Suns on Tuesday night when they visit the Los Angeles Lakers? They’re a 6.5-point favorite on the NBA betting lines.

The LA Lakers play host to the Phoenix Suns, and the NBA odds have dubbed the home team as 6 point dogs. While the total has seen the most movement, haven fallen from 215 to 213, we share why we believe that this game's spread looks to offer us the best chance of cashing in with our NBA picks tonight.

Take a look at Tuesday's NBA Betting Odds Report for a rundown of all of today's picks.

The Phoenix Suns Can Win Because…
They are capable of doing just about anything good. The Suns rallied from a nine-point deficit on Friday, Oct. 31 to defeat the defending champion San Antonio Spurs. The Suns’ guards were able to run circles around Spurs’ defenders, showing that San Antonio’s bout with age could still become a factor later on in this NBA season. What Phoenix has with Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe are two very talented players, but guys who (especially in Bledsoe’s case) can dip in and out of games. Phoenix needs a lot more commitment from those two players, but if it gets that kind of commitment, it can surely win. Dragic and Bledsoe are so quick off the dribble that they’re able to break down defenses in ways many current basketball players can’t even dream of doing.

The Suns are also a really good choice for your NBA picks here because of the team they’re facing. The Lakers can see how grim this season is going to be. They lost their top 2014 draft pick, Julius Randle, for the whole season due to an injury suffered in the season opener on Oct. 28. The Lakers just have no bench to speak of and cannot play the way they want to. The starters have to occupy too many minutes, since the bench has no really good options to speak of. The starters, by playing all these minutes, get tired, and the bench has to fill in the gap. The Lakers are caught in a vicious cycle from which there appears to be no real escape. Phoenix’s speed on the perimeter should prove to be decisive in this game.

The Los Angeles Lakers Can Win Because…
They're going up against a team that is more talented, but which is also bipolar. The Suns did beat the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night with a stirring second-half rally, gaining a lot of attention around the league. However, the next night the Jazz hosted the Phoenix Suns, and while the smart money suggested that the Suns would coast on the road because of obviously greater talent, that’s not what happened. The Suns were a no-show in a 118-91 loss to Utah. All the energy that was seen against San Antonio did not make the trip to Salt Lake City for the Suns. Phoenix has a clear mandate now: learn how to carry energy from one building to another, even on fourth and short. However, it might take a long time for the Suns to get used to that piece of advice. They’re a young team, and we all know that young teams require some guidance. The Suns are no exception, and it could lead them to ruin if they’re not careful.

The Suns’ 27-point loss to Utah is a source of concern. Phoenix might be great in its best moments but when you have the ups and downs the Suns are experiencing right now, how much can you be trusted?

That being said, while the Suns have some flaws, the Lakers issues are far greater. We’re talking about a team that’s allowed an average of 118 points per game. The Suns run and gun style should get to that number again, which makes it hard to take the Lakers.
