Memphis Grizzlies, are a good measuring stick to see what the Nets need to improve upon in the 2nd half of the season. See who we like as our betting pick as the Grizzlies are heavy betting favorites.

Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET tonight at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee. This game can be seen on the YES Channel. 5Dimes Sportsbook lists the Grizzlies as a heavy 12.5 point NBA odds betting favorite and the total for the game is 190.5.

The All-Star Break Can't Come Too Fast For Brooklyn
Memphis has won 9 out of their last 10 games and are coming off of a huge win over one of the best team in the NBA, the Atlanta Hawks, 94-88.

One should expect the Nets to have problems on the offensive end as the Grizzlies rank number 1 in defense in the NBA, allowing just 95.7 points per game while the Nets are ranked 25th in the league in offense and are coming off of a 103-97 loss to their former coach Jason Kidd and the surprising Milwaukee Bucks.

Trade Talks and Elevating Level of Play
One thing that has been noticeable has been the improvement in the play of center Brook Lopez. There had been trade talks with Oklahoma City and Lopez would've been to the player to be traded as Mason Plumlee was starting to fit in very well in Brooklyn's starting lineup. Ever since the trade talks, Lopez has elevated his level of play and has started playing like the player that he was when he first came into this league.

He got into foul trouble in the loss to Milwaukee, but Lopez still shot 5 of 7 from the field and he's been reaching the 20 point plateau regularly. Lopez has been getting the minutes, but has basically had to look over his shoulder because Plumlee is waiting and ready to be the starting center for the Nets. Coach Lionel Hollins has actually used both centers in the lineup and the friendly competition has brought results at the center position for the Nets.

The same thing can be said at the guard position between Deron Williams and Jarrett Jack. Jack has been playing like an All-Star as of late.

The center matchup will be the more important one in this game as Marc Gasol and Zack Randolph are both big men that take up space and equally good at controlling the boards and scoring. Brooklyn must have a good game out of both Brook Lopez and Mason Plumlee as odds makers don't think the Nets have any chance of winning this ball game.

Mike Conley Jr.
One player that seems to be forgotten about is point guard Mike Conley Jr. Conley Jr. wasn't thought of as an offensive threat when he entered the league, but his game has progressive gotten better each season.

He's what I consider a second tier point guard. This is a player a notch below the Westbrooks and CP3s of the league. Conley Jr. has been a major reason why the Grizzlies have been winning. Aside from great defensive play, Conley Jr, is a great ball distributor and is shooting 41.4 % from beyond the arc.

For the season, he's averaging 17.4 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game. This is a player that's not going to make too many mistakes. Tonight, he'll have his hands full with Williams and Jack, but this is the NBA and Conley Jr. can hold his own against any point guard in the league.

Memphis has been outstanding all season long and has given the bettor no reason to fade them despite being heavy betting favorites in most of their games. Tonight is no different. Make Memphis your NBA pick.
