How's this for an early-season NBA showdown? Two of the biggest contenders in the league will go at it on Wednesday, and we're going to examine the NBA odds on offer.

Odds Overview
This is going to be a heck of a game, with NBA oddsmakers listing the Thunder as 4.5-point favorites at a lot of the top sportsbooks

With a total of 207.5 posted on the NBA odds board, we should be seeing a lot of offense on display on opening night. You can see why people are thinking that, with names like Durant, Westbrook, Duncan, Leonard, Aldridge, and Ibaka set to take the court.

Oklahoma City Thunder
We all know what the Thunder are capable of when their two superstars, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, are healthy and firing on all cylinders. These are two of the best players in the world, and they've been carrying Oklahoma City on their backs over recent seasons. Injuries did get in the way though, holding the Thunder back from realizing their full potential.

The coaching was an issue too, and ultimately Oklahoma City felt it was best to let Scott Brooks go. Billy Donovan was signed to a deal to take over as head coach, and the Thunder should be in a better position to reclaim their spot among the elite this coming season.

But, back to that superstars thing. Durant and Westbrook are both healthy right now, and that has to be an exciting feeling for all of those involved with the franchise. Serge Ibaka and Enes Kanter are also going to get plenty of usage in the offense, D.J. Augustin, Dion Waiters and Steven Adams will see a lot of minutes too. Overall, many are expecting Oklahoma City to have a great season and make their presence felt again, and it's easy to see why.

San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs are getting older and older, but they injected some new blood over the offseason in moves that are sure to boost the team's overall framework. It all starts with the addition of LaMarcus Aldridge, one of the best big men in the entire league, and he'll be joining up with the legendary Duncan to form a pretty scary duo in the frontcourt.

Kawhi Leonard remains one of the best all-around young players in the game and will play a big role for San Antonio again this season, while Tony Parker, Danny Green, Manu Ginobili, David West and Patty Mills, among others, should all feature. We've seen how much Gregg Popovich likes to rotate his squad, and we can expect to see a lot of DNPs out there this season.

It's hard not to get excited about the Spurs' chances, however, as they're loaded from top to bottom, have immeasurable playoff experience and have one of the best coaches in NBA history. They'll be just fine.

NBA Pick
We know the Spurs are going to find their stride, dominate, and make another deep playoff run. They're one of the top favorites on the NBA odds board to win a title for a reason.

But, San Antonio has been known to "coast", or "take it easy" at times, when the stakes aren't high and the games really aren't all that important yet. He's going to be cautious with his team, especially the older guys like Duncan, Parker and Ginobili. It's just how it it's always been.

Meanwhile, the Thunder are going to want to come out and make a statement on opening night on their home court. They've got Durant and Westbrook ready to go, and a new coach who's going to want to make a good first impression. With that thought process in mind, we're going to be rolling this  NBA pick with Oklahoma City to win by at least five on Wednesday.
