The Spurs and Pelicans have cashed the over in their last two meetings with one another, but this could be a different game on both ends. Both teams are playing well defensively lately and that may show tonight.

They are committed to starting Dewayne Dedmon over Pau Gasol, which really helps their defense, and right now they are allowing only 101 points per 100 possessions this season.

The Pelicans aren’t that bad either and the acquisition of DeMarcus Cousins should only help them clog the paint more at home tonight against the Spurs.

New Orleans has a defensive rating of 104.8 points allowed per 100 possessions, which is the 7th-best mark in the NBA currently. Combine that with their improved defense against teams in their division and you have a recipe for the under here.

The Pelicans are allowing just 104.2 points per game to divisional opponents, while scoring just 96.2. The Spurs have been even better, allowing only 97.1 points per game to divisional opponents, while scoring only 98.6. This has allowed these two teams to combine to cash the under at 13-7 in divisional games. While they have cashed the over against one another in their last two against each other, the absence of Tony Parker should hurt the Spurs offense enough to keep this one lower in scoring.

So far this season the Spurs have a defensive rating of 101.9 against the Southwest, while the Pelicans aren’t far behind at 103.9. Take the under here despite the last two games for these two teams against each other.

Free NBA Pick Pick: Under 207

Best Line Offered: at 5Dimes

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3068617, "sportsbooksIds":[19,238,1096,93,1275], "LineTypeId":2, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
