The Heat have already ruled out Hassan Whiteside for this game due to a bone bruise on his knee, which takes away Miami’s best player on the defensive end, and probably their second best offensive player.

San Antonio Spurs vs Miami Heat

The loss of Whiteside is a huge one for the Heat, even at home. However, the NBA Odds for this one have not reflected Whiteside being ruled out in my opinion. The Spurs look like the second-best team in the NBA right now. Even though it’s way too early in the year to make those distinctions, and even without Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs look great.

San Antonio is holding their opponents to just 91 points per game, and while the loss of Leonard for the start of the year hurts, the play of Dejounte Murray has been inspiring. The Spurs’ guard has really improved the defense and rebounding, and he has probably won the starting gig even when Tony Parker comes back from injury.

Combined with Pau Gasol and LaMarcus Aldridge stepping into a time machine early in he year, you have a great team on both ends.

This one should be a low scoring game, but with both teams without their top players, the Spurs are deeper and better defensively.
