NBA Pick: Spurs vs. Grizzlies
An opening line of 1.5, with Memphis favored, has stayed unchanged for now. There's still plenty of time for the NBA odds to move, so make sure you track the movement in order to get the best value.
A total of 188 has been released for tonight's game. Just a heads up: the UNDER is 4-1 in the previous five head-to-head meetings between the Grizzlies and Spurs.
San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs survived a late rally to beat the L.A. Lakers 108-105 on Wednesday. Obviously they weren't even remotely close to covering as 13.5-point favorites.
In truth, the Lakers, despite their finest efforts with an shorthanded squad, couldn't hang with San Antonio's well-oiled machine of an offense.
Tony Parker had 24 points (10-of-16 FG), six assists, three rebounds and three steals, while Tiago Splitter's 14 points and 14 rebounds turned out to make a big difference. Elsewhere, Manu Ginobili had 19 points, eight boards and four dimes off the bench, with Kawhi Leonard, Stephen Jackson and Gary Neal also hitting double figures.
With the win, the Spurs moved to 9-2 SU over their last 11 games, though they've gone just 6-5 ATS in that span.
In terms of spread performance, it's been a rough time for San Antonio backers when they're on the road. The Spurs have covered in only two of their last eight road contests coming in to tonight's game.
A three-game west coast swing couldn't have gone any better for the Grizzlies, as they topped Phoenix (92-81), Sacramento (113-81) and Golden State (94-87).
The finale was the most impressive, considering the Warriors have been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA and are playing some great ball. Memphis actually came in as the underdogs, but 60 points in the paint fueled the visitors to the win.
Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and Rudy Gay were the top contributors in the victory. Randolph had 19 points and 12 rebounds, Gasol did a little bit of everything (12 points, nine boards, five assitss, two steals and a block) and Gay posted a 18/6/5 line.
Defense, though, has been the main reason why the Grizzlies are where they are. They're second in the league in efficiency and haven't allowed 100+ points since December 22.
Moreover, Memphis has been on a little run at the betting window, having cashed ATS in four of their past five games overall. For what it's worth, the Grizzlies have also gone 12-4 ATS in their previous 16 home games against teams with a winning record.
The Spurs have covered in four of the last five head-to-head meetings between the teams, so which way are we best served going with our pro basketball picks tonight?
We will be recommending a play on Memphis for this evenings NBA sports picks.
The Grizzlies closed out their road trip in an excellent way and we feel they present a tough matchup for San Antonio. The pairing of Randolph and Gasol inside is about as good as you're going to find anywhere in the league, while Mike Conley and Tony Allen's athleticism and terrific defense could keep Parker and Ginobili from going off.
It's never easy going against the Spurs, but Memphis looks to be one of the most complete teams in the NBA and we like the price on them at home for tonight's NBA betting.
